A tourist in London - what would you recommend?

Nr Cardiff or at Chams Darlaston

Wolf & I are seeing a show towards the end of this month. We will have a few hours beforehand to look around. Over the years we’ve done a lot of the main tourist attractions. I can’t walk far, so whatever we do needs to be not too far from an underground station if possible.

Just wondered what others would recommend?

As a tourist in London, I would turn around and get out. Mr Khan is probably charging you for something.

Chams or Socials

What about a bus tour?

Everything we planned over 4 days went out the window as the queues were massive!! We ended up in The Supreme Court just for something to do

Camden has some interesting shops, restaurants, pubs and the market. I always end up around there when I visit London.

The other place is Borough Market down by the river, some really nice food and drink.

The British Museum. You could spend days in there . Pick a subject and go for it

I would agree with both of these.

All over

You can't go wrong with Covent Garden. Always something going on and some nice places for late lunch etc if you get a little bit of the main square and the touristy ones.

A walk around Greenwich park ending up at the Cutty Sark is a firm favourite of mine in london.

I understand that they are doing theatre in the cargo hold of the Cutty Sark now which sounds interesting for the atmosphere.

Cutty Sark is a tea clipper in dry dock in or right by Greenwich for those who don’t know.

How about a boat trip down the river? You could use the Uber Boat , it's part of the public transport network so you can pay by contactless. And they have a cafe/bar on board.

I'm hoping to see ABBA - Voyage later this year... Heard it's really good even if, like me, you're not much of a fan of them.

Paper Town Central, Essex.

Many people walk around the city with their heads down or looking straight ahead just to get somewhere.

At street level, in the city, things have been sanitised and modernised.

Take time to look up. Some of the older buildings are exquisite.

There are lots of great walking tours around the city.

Also, look at Frog Tours.

Yes, this is true. The architecture of Regent Street is beautiful (looking north from the Piccadilly Circus end) and a walk around the City of London (taking in Postman's Park and St Dunstan's in the East) shows many historic sites.

Somebody in the architecture business once told me that a flaw with today's designers is that they don't know how to finish the top of buildings with any style anymore. They just sort of "end."

I’d say go to matinee at the theatre and make it a day of shows. Then go for a nice meal in between.

I think you mean the Natural History Museum - the British Museum is in a different part of town.

My London tip...

Go to the shard...there's a cocktail bar about 2/3rds the way up.

Go there...get the cocktail...enjoy the view. It'll cost you about the same as going right to the top...
