Public displays of affection

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Why is that some people have to play everything out in public and why do we find this embarrassing?

I like holding hands walking down the street. I like a tender kiss, that moment of just you two in your own little world. I like seeing other people like this too - it makes me smile.

I don't like it when it's traffic stopping snogging in the middle of the road.

I understand that declaration that the I is, for a moment, a we. In moderation. Love, infatuation are both really the same OCD madness. The only difference is that one lasts longer and deepens.

On here I have wondered if the proclamations that sometimes appear are that declaration to the only people who can know about the origins of the relationship.

I know it's ranty Thursday but this is not aimed at anyone on here but comes from my examination of my past behaviour.

for me yes, I have said many about an elderly couple who pass my house every day and they are so in tune with each other, the small gestures he does with her are just sublime. Pure affection and love

I am not a romantic, but I love them as a couple.

public business that two people are in love...its a reason I dont read about sexual story interests generated by the media

it becomes a acceptable level of displays fitted to the societal norms which then achieves who is allowed to show them and who isnt:-

gay men/women kissing

older and younger together

old and old showing affection

different races together

some people dont like seeing the above examples but again..thats why we have eyes and ears...we can control them by using a distraction without actually needing to offend the participants

I just dont see what benefit there is to _iewing with negative judgement when it doesnt exactly concern anyone other than the two people themselves

my other examples where really based on people that arent in ur company

Well.... I like to see affection in public between any genders.. It is heartening to see that some people still care for others… But with that comes responsibility! Full blown passionate “snogging” is not what most people want to see in the high street! Yes I can avert my eyes, but surely they have a unspoken duty not to offend others as well?

Problem is, we have all been told for years that we can do what we like as long as no one gets hurt. I don’t subscribe to that at all! In a society, we all have a duty to act in a way that doesn’t offend or embarrass others. For instance, major row going on in the street. Not violent and no swearing, is that OK? Well, the police would soon stop that. Same thing really! Offending people that it is not affecting other than by a visual or in that case, aural assault.

As for offending the participants, what about the offence to those who happen to be there… Social freedoms bring social responsibility!

Holding hands, cuddles and a little kissing in public are absolutely fine, but when it comes to snogs with face eating levels of lust then yes, thats probably best done in private - unless the people in question are two beautiful women and I'm the only other person present, in which case I'll get some popcorn.

"The people slobbering ar insecure or the people watching or not watching as the case may be ?

The gentle displays of affection show respect and an understanding of a person: security, if you will. We smile and feel good when we see those.

The big snoggy, look at us, displays seem to say one or both of us want you to know we are an item: we need you to notice to validate that we are an item.

When we look on perhaps it reflects our own feelings.

It's all conjecture on my part, of course. I know I have found some of the threads where people 'display' a little uncomfortable in the past and I have to step away from them. Last year I had a strange relationship with a man who did the big traffic-stopping displays. I felt uneasy about it, but also excited. I know now I accepted the behaviour because it was an outward sign that we were together, even though all his private encounters with me and signs pointed in the opposite direction.

Nope! I don't like dogging because it puts innocents in the line of fire. Choosing places where they might get caught, meaning places where there may be vulnerable people including kids!

Loads of dogging sites are being closed, which is good, except some sites are being blocked off and we now have to pay to visit.

I suppose I have never thought of that option, that it could be more or less saying " look at me I am in a relationship " and I suppose you could be right....but I still don't understand why people who don't really like seeing something as intimate as a good snog in the street as being insecure too.

For me, when I snog it gets passionate, so I am just thinking OMG go do that in private, or in a sex club if you want an audience
