I’ve had one for 10 years and source my own logs ,

Last year it saved me £350 on my gas bill

Central France dept 36

I’ve had one for 17 years and my local farmer gave me use of a forest for wood but I only cut the dead trees down of which there are loads.

But now I live with Eve and she has heating which is noisy and not as nice.

If it's complemented with a vintage leather Chesterfield, a glass of mulled wine and some amorous flirting with a delicious woman over the ether then who could refuse a log fire?

We have a log burner, it's lovely to sit near and enjoy it's warmth. Plus it's free to use

Love an open fire.

Reminds me of Christmas’s spent with my grandparents.

Also enjoy them in a pub. Makes them feel homely and cosy albeit you do start to sweat your tits off after awhile.

Been enjoying one the last few nights amy late fathers house but the noises from the back boiler are rather worrying. I don't remember it making that noise in the past.

Yep can't beat a open fire and had a back boiler here for years and the water was lovelly and hot then the council decided to "Upgrade" to multi point boilers so we were glad of the central heating but the water wasn't no where as hot as with our back boiler !! looked like the scene from the Exorcist when we ran the bath with the steam rolling along our hallway though !!

You moved FROM a cottage??!!! For the love of all that is holy, why?!?! I’d give my left arm for a Cottage (a nice one, not one that is falling to bits).

Very much so OP! I think there is something really captivating about watching flames dance around.

Ours is 400 years old and listed. While it is lovely, it’s also small, freezing cold in the winter, and requires a lot of maintenance. We love it, but we will probably move again in the not too distant future Xx

Mine started to put smoke into the room about 3 weeks ago. Not had a fire since then as I was waiting for the sweep to come round. I'm looking forward to a roaring fire tonight.

Ah that’s a shame. Hope you’re just as happy where you are now though.
