Strong male role models of today?

couple, us we him her.

Times are changing and whilst it's important to embrace this I also think it's important for young lads growing up to have a good strong male role model to look up to.

( Look before you say but why do they have to be male..... Yes I know but this isn't about women or trans gawd knows there's been enough thread's about this, but I'm sure many young women have women who they look up-to and probably young Trans people as well)

So let's please if possible just stick with guy's.

I think that it's very important to have people who can positively influence young people teaching respect, responsibility and other positive traits.

Sadly I do think that the strong male role models that used to be maybe a family member or sportsman seem to be lacking.

This should be possible and still be able to get a modern spin .

How about a dad?

Something like 25% of kids are raised in a single parent household

The statistics on child outcomes in a fatherless home are unreal.

I agree. Wish my kids' dad was more present. But he's not.

That's a good shout. My Dad is my role model. Of course he has negative traits that I've tried not to pick up but he worked his arse off for us and made sure we never wanted for anything. If I can replicate even half of what he did, I'll have done well

I pray my kids look at me like this compared to how I look at what mine did to me.

Dads should be a role model kids look to.

Mine was the same. A solidly working guy that did what he needed to provide for his family. He put us first. Himself last. Always

I was going to say the same, but a pretty grim realisation struck me. Sadly my father was a poor role model, poor sod had a dogs life under the rule of my mother. She was dreadful, bloody evil, she drove wedges between all of us, our father, my brother and my sister. Never had a kind thought or a good word for anyone, and he never ever stood up to her. So yes a father should be a role model but a strong and wise one.I have seen my sister once she came to stay as it was my late wife's dying wish we should try to mend bridges, she came to stay for a week with me,the first we saw of each other for 40 years, and my brother cut out about the same time. And it broke our hearts finding out the real truths.

I am in tears now, so that's it from me for now.

My Dad has always been very selfish. I've been the parent for most of my life.

I'd put my Grandad forward. I miss him very much indeed

I heard something the other day.

Footballers, actors etc they are not meant to be role models. They are paid, sometimes a lot of, money to do a job.

The real role models are those that run households, work, cook, clean, manage to function with the cards that are given to them

I’d actually put my father-in-law (ex) as someone I admire

Although my children’s dad and I are no longer together he is still very much a part of their life’s, as is his dad and they are their role models.

Sadly I have no surviving males on my side of the family or I would have added my Grampy to that list.

My eldest is not really a Sports follower, but I know his male teachers are favourites of his, particularly his Science and Games teacher because they engage with them and make the lessons fun and interesting.

I know he was particularly interested in Tim Peake and his achievements.

My youngest is more tricky. I’d say his biggest male role model (other than his dad and grandad) is his brother.

I know people say Dads should be role models, but I think you at least have to know how many children you have before you qualify.
