Worcester

So I ditched my previous profile at the start of the pandemic; it wasn’t the only problem in my life right then.

I’ve come back here about a month ago having moved to a new area. I thought it was about the time to stop being a hermit and start socializing again.

And honestly, I don’t know if Fabs has improved generally, or if it’s just the people up in this part of the country, but it’s a much better experience for me this time round.

People who message are largely respectful, the people I’ve met in person have been utterly wonderful, and everything seems a bit easier.

Did the Pandemic change swinging for the better and cause the scene to mellow out a bit? Or is Worcester just an amazing and laid back place to live?

.

I'm aware I'm heavily biased but there are some brilliant people around Worcester/Malverns so that might come in to play.

That aside, it might be you Op.

When you're happier, you're more receptive to meeting fantastic people and forming connections. I think you are more likely to draw the attention of likeminded people.

Good energy tends to attract good energy. That might be a tad mumbo jumbo for so early in the morning but I know it's the case for me.

Oh and you're "fresh meat" to that area. That could play some part in it. I hope it continues for you!

I have not even ventured out into the Malverns yet! Looking forward to that foray!

I know it might be because I’m ‘new’, but I’ve previously had a single profile and a couple of different couples profiles and honestly it was just the most unpleasant experience sometimes, especially at the start. It just seems to be better this time around.

I did about the same. Ditched my profile during the first lockdown because I lost my brain for a little while

For me, it’s worse, and I just attribute that to fab gaining popularity that’s skewed the women/couple : men ratio to further extremes

Prior to lock down I’d usually meet 3-5 times a year new women or couples. Nothing crazy, but still something

Now 99% of the messages I send to women/couples don’t even get opened. Message inboxes are just too busy.

Which is why I just started using fabs for meeting guys, and other avenues for women/couples that work better

That’s just me though

I think the pandemic gave people time they may not have previously had, working from home or not working at all and that brought them onto the internet.

There was an influx in most online platforms including video streaming. Look at Netflix and their numbers have dropped hugely. This influx also happened here and people could not meet so a lot were looking for “text sex” and photos.

Obviously just my opinion.

Oh and for someone who lives in Malvern for 12 years and has family there, yes it’s beautiful

So those that came on may not have been true swingers or thought this was

Caerphilly

Yeah, both I reckon.

That area is ace, so many good friends around that way from here.

Pandemic Fab was tough, though. Very abrasive. I took off for over a year somewhere in there. It's... calmer here now, I guess.

How I used fab has changed since the pandemic, so my perspective has changed significantly but baring the obvious trolls, I think it’s much better than it used to be in a number of ways

I skipped and stayed away from fab during the pandemic thankfully.

Fab has got worse though * in my opinion.

I am with you OP. That whole stretch from Bristol upto Birmingham does seem to have a good mix of people and that makes Fab fun at the moment.

I wasn't here during the pandemic but I think you come across really well in the forums. Agree with Meli - perhaps it's your energy that attracts people?

It's more petty than during Covid times , all that staying at home seemed to mellow people out more before frustration took over with some people.

It's okay, but needs less of the deliberate forum posts that are only done to cause debates.

Remove those and it would be miles better.

I am extremely pleased about my choices to move up here right now. Even if I did move to the sticks rather than the city - perhaps I'll make that happen in a few years time!

I guess whenever you move your perspective on where you lived previously will change.

I used to live in Cheltenham and loved the area, helped out hosting at the local club and it made travelling to socials, parties and meets from Bristol to Birmingham a doddle. With several cities within an hour there was a huge and diverse swinging population which made it easy to make good friends and form friendships.

Now I'm in the sticks in the countryside that's significantly harder, journey times can be significant and there's obviously less of an active swinging population in the area.

Sometimes moving changes things for the better, sometimes not. Of course I doubt if the local swinging scene is ever that high on a priority wishlist when looking to move and if you find yourself in a good spot then it's just an added bonus.

See, I think for me it would be. I would be keen to move to a place that was convenient for a good club, for example.
