"Someone says 'you look good for your age'

i'm never sure how to take it..and its said fairly frequently.

How should one look ? these days older ladies do look fantastic so much better than the war years when 45 was really old looking. Is it a compliment or a back handed dig ? what do you think ? "

Better than when they say

You look good. For your age

Brighton - even Hove!

Or if they are referring to an anti-ageing product and say "You look - Good for YOUR age!"

Bit like when someone says 'you don't sweat much for a fat lass' or 'you're actually quite skinny from behind' or 'you'd be quite pretty ifuyou were skinny ' or 'you certainly put some effort in'

All have been said to me at some point

I love it when people say stuff like that to me. I think it's funny. Also when they say I look good for my age... And then they say some age that is much older than my real age.

I like it when I get those kind of comments too, makes me laugh, especially if its my OH doing it.

He saw a woman at a club once that he was quite taken with, kept staring and saying how attractive she was. I said go and chat and maybe she'd like to play and he said 'oh no she's way out of my league'. Oh so I'm obviously not out of your league then, I replied and he was very apologetic, I loved it

Overheard a colleague saying I'd be stunning...if I were slim. Guy in Fonehouse shouting across the shop, "here Paul, guess how old this lady is, go on guess. Ok I'll tell you 52!!! Don't look it does she?!!"

It's to my credit I didn't whack the little git: I don't feel flattered at all!

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I'd rather be thought of as intelligent than attractive. However, I'm not holding my breath!

(She/ her) in Sensualityland

I would rather be thought of as intelligent and having an attractive personality - in any case for me good sex comes to a great proportion from an intelligent imaginative mind.

I know I look younger than my age, thanks to my mum's good genes and her advice to moisturise my skin from a young age, and for being overweight so that wrinkles are smoothed out etc.

It is still nice to be complimented by others though.

I get this but think i do look my age..

I do however remember my nanna always looking like a nanna and quite old yet when my children were born and even now my mother looks so much younger than my nanna ever did x

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I don't really know what it means these days. I think it's really much harder to gauge age now.

In the last 6 months I have twice been taken to be my sisters mother and grandmother to my nephews and I've had a couple of 'you're never nearly 48 are you?'. So perhaps I now look somewhere between 65-75.
