A long shot but are they any other fab members out there that have done or are training towards their first Hyrox event?

Good luck - it’s addictive!

I did mixed doubles at Olympia last year then women’s open at Excel. Entry in for Brum later in the year, it’s hard but it’s so much fun (May have questionable definition of fun)

Done some training towards it - what's the question?

Thanks. Definitely understand when you say addictive. The feeling after you have pushed yourself so hard is a great endorphin rush Yes I’m going to embrace the pain haha. Already signed up for Birmingham in October. Just aiming to get round in one piece and I’ll be sweating everywhere haha.. I’ll be swearing at the end when doing the Wall balls!

Everyone swears at the end doing wall balls it’s a good one to judge if you’re ever inclined to volunteer.

I’m not hyrox fit at the moment (tri training instead) and I did an AMRAP run/wall ball/lunges workout the other day. Felt pretty chuffed with how it felt… until the next day, doms got me so bad!

I’m happy to answer any questions you (or anyone else come to that) have, but most of all just go an enjoy it!

Thank you. I really appreciate it. I’m on a journey back to fitness, back to healthier ways. My hyrox is my first step building towards that. I was going to DM you but can’t. BBJ’s followed by the run are going to ruin me haha. Good luck with your training.

Messaged you. BBJ’s just break them down. There’s barriers to make the alley for you to go up and down - I just picked a barrier as a marker, aimed for that, had a wee rest then carried on. They used to be my least favourite but I trained with a Hyrox coach who made me do hundreds of them and I kinda like them now!

There will be loads of Uber fit people flying round but also plenty of normal people too. Anyone who takes it on is epic in my book, it’s really not easy (not to sound discouraging, lol)

Only ever done little bits of hyrox training, enjoy it but a really dodgy knee means I'll never do an event, training is fun though.

Maybe look at doubles? If you partner with someone whose happy to finish and isn't chasing a time, and is happy to pick up the slack for any bits you can’t do, no reason you couldn’t still give it a bash but otherwise, even the training is good for you

I don't get on with running at all so it's out the question really, also burpees are a bit of a no, enjoy the exercise though so the training is fun

Only just seen this thread.

I’m set for Saturday, going to worlds in Nice in a few weeks and also Birmingham later in the year.

I usually do really well in the functional station (crossfitter) but really need better average run times

If anyone is around at Olympia let me know

Nice! (no pun intended) the run is definitley where the time can be made or lost, though by default if you’re off to worlds you can’t be exactly slow!

Looks like it’s a Birmingham fab meet up then surely?

Debated volunteering at Olympia to get another entry for next season secured now it’s so bloody hard to get into but going to recce a tri course for an upcoming comp instead. Enjoy!
