Hi fabbers,

We keep this side of our lives very separate from the rest of our lives, no friends or family know anything about what we get up to and hope to keep it that way.

We're going to an invite only social approx 1 hour away from where we live but we are apprehensive about bumping into someone we know there. Sorta have a few excuses ready just in case but just wondering if it happened to you and what did any of you do x

Thanks in advance xx

Mrs

Go wearing domino pizza uniforms.

Then if you see anyone you know just say its a part time job.

If you don't then you thought it was fancy dress.

At the end of the day, they would be there for the same reason so I wouldn't worry.

Manchester-ish

Ummm, that exact thing happened to us at our first group social. That we had picked because it was about an hour away

Not only that, but it was actual friends from our vanilla life. It was horrific in that initial moment but all worked out fine. We're actually closer as friends now (not in that way, that would be weird).

It turned out they also have a podcast (you really couldn't make this up ). So search out The Sexless Swingers, episode 21 because they were as horrified as us. It's funny and relatable, and hopefully will put your mind at rest a bit.

At the end of the day if you see someone you know there then they will be for the same reason as you so I wouldn't overly worry about it ..

I run socials and it's never happened yet so just live your life and go for it I say

Do you mean you might bump into someone you know who wasn't attending the social?

It hasn't happened to us but if it did we'd just say we were out with a group of friends. If they push for more information (rude!) either smile enigmatically and say nothing of say they're swingers...they'll laugh and won't believe you.

Deepest darkest Peru

Back in 2019 I bumped into my daughters male best friend at a social, he’d wondered up stairs to the function room when someone told them there was a swingers social being held

I literally thought I was going to throw up, but we ended up having a right laugh and he snogged some random bloke from the social

It’s never been mentioned again between us

Cheeseville, Somerset

I bumped into someone I went to school with at a house party way back in 2013.

I've yet to bump into anyone I know ow locally at an organised social, but then as the bulk of socials I've been to over the last 16 years are 2-3 hours away I guess that would have been j likely.

The closest organised social to me is Bristol. But as they don't allow lowly single guys, and I never went when this was a couples profile, I guess unless someone organises as SW social in this neck of the woods then I doubt there's much risk of encountering vanilla friends.

That said, as others have pointed out - they'd be attending the same event and would be unlikely to be posting something on Facey along the lines of "ooh, you'll never guess who I/we bumped into at a swingers event".

They'd just be outing themselves. Most people understand discretion.

I'd love to know what your story might be if you bump into someone you know at an organised swingers social?

Might come in handy one day

Not happened as yet thankfully, it’s my worst nightmare.

Don’t overthink it.

This is why I try to venture out as far away as possible for clubs and social meets.

A friend of mine ran into his brother in law in one of the clubs and really freaked him out. I found his reaction hilarious and thought he's making too much of it but the reality is it didn't happen to me.

Having said all that, the chances of you running into someone you know is pretty low. Almost zero actually so enjoy yourself and...

.... scan the room quickly before you fully go inside and make sure hubby is in his car revving engine for a swift and smooth getaway just in case.
