I wonder if anyone on Fab can remember femidoms being an alternative to condoms? Has anyone used one?

I guess they had some sort of problem because nobody seems to use or even talk about them today.

Yes. I developed some kind of allergy to rubber, to my girlfriend at the time (early 90s) suggested these. Pretty terrible to be fair, then we found non latex condoms. Much better

The marketing blitz was huge, and a lot of it was pushed as extension of sexual liberation.

With some of the stories I've heard about their effectiveness (slipping out of place, ripping, slipping out of place, chaffing, slipping out of place, allergies, etc) it's not a surprise that they didn't become as indispensable as their male counterparts.

You can still get them, and have been used in Africa in a bid to stop disease, etc, but they certainly aren't the first choice when walking into the chemist.

The one fond memory I have of them was the way they sounded. It was as if you were shagging with one of those for life bags. That was always a mood killer.

Yeah I’ve used them, they’re fine. Some people don’t like them, but I never had a problem with them.

I usually keep a couple around in case a guy is a twat and thinks if he doesn’t bring condoms we can bareback. I give him the option of a femidom or leaving.

The way I see it, an internal condom is good for all penis shapes and sizes. It’s far more cost effective for me to provide that as an option than cater to different external condom sizes. Obviously a poorly fitting external condom can slip off or break and put me at risk, so if they can’t provide condoms that fit then we’re going to use the best choice for me.

As for the Femi-dom itself? Thank god for the contraceptive implant and (finally) ablation surgery.

Might not do much for casual sex, but it allows hubby's pork-sword to go commando!
