Whilst living abroad we couldn't get any Tia Maria for tiramisu, so its on the internet and made our own, its so easy, taste's better and is much cheaper

In a sauce pan add 2 cups of water, 1 &1/4 cups of sugar, 1 TPSP vanilla extract, 2 TBSP ground coffee

bring to the boil simmer for 10 mins, cool and strain add a bottle of vodka and re-bottle

Because of the sugar it will get stronger in the bottle if it last that long

Oh of course, I do repeat tests, just to make sure it hasn't changed, good measure and ice cold milk

do you throw in some ice to thicken the shake or maybe a banana would go well to thicken and take away that bitter coffee taste, only way way to find out

Ice yes and maybe a dash of double cream. Not sure about the banana with coffee

Is really like drinking cold coffee, but soooooooooooooo much nicer

I normally use Kahlua and would only use Tia Maria when I cannot get hold of the former.
