Do you have any tattoos?

Do you want a tattoo? If so, do you know what you’d get?

My sister is an artist (not tattoo artist) and one of her designs I have as my phone background, I love it. Been looking at it and think it would make a stunning sleeve and am feeling really tempted.

I have no tattoos whatsoever. They hold little mystique for me. I don't mind them on anyone else and I'm not put off by them.

I have two. One I love and one I tend to forget about.

I think they are a very personal thing.

If it makes you happy, go for it.

I don't have any tattoos.

I've known for a few years what I would get if I did get them. I have the concepts in my mind's eye - echoes of my life's story.

I don't know if I will get them. I'm not making a statement by not having them, though.

I have 5, all very personal and probably don’t make any sense to anyone but myself. I love them all so I don’t care what others think.

I have at least 3 more planned, just can’t afford it at the moment.

I love the stories behind tattoos.

I don't have any. Sometimes I toy with the idea of getting a particular one, I know exactly what it would be and it would mean a lot to me. I don't think I'd suit them though so that stops me.

You should go for it Little Star. Or try a small one and see how that feels.

Bear in mind a "flat" piece of art that looks beautiful doesn't necessarily translate well into a tattoo. Aside from requiring the tattooer to be at least as good as the original artist in order to recreate the piece; jabbing ink into skin is a completely different medium to drawing/painting/digital art and will have limitations that the original artist wouldn't have had, and you're not working on a nice flat canvas or digital document, like with a painting/drawing. For a sleeve you're taking a flat image and wrapping it around your arm and working it around your shoulders and elbows - it's simply not possible to just copy it straight on! If you decide to go ahead with it you'll need to find a good tattoo ARTIST (not just any old high street scratcher!) who's able to take the original piece and rework it so it works as a sleeve, and you'll need to accept that it will have to be different to the original piece in order to fit on and around your anatomy.

That being said, I'm all for it. I think people can really overthink tattoos and obsess over having deep and meaningful personal significance... I'm of the mind that if you think something will look snazzy, just go for it.

The absolute key is to pick the artist for the style that you want.

Most artists will have a preferred style and some will specialise in that only.

Even if you have to travel, travel.

I don't have any tattoo's, I'm a clean slate. I have thought about getting a tattoo many times though, but as it stays there forever (unless laser removed), you have to really make sure it's something worth keeping on you're skin. So for now, I have left it be. For what I would have, I have a good vision. I'd love a 'philosophers stone' alchemy tattoo.

I have none and haven’t been interested because I had nothing in my life that I wanted permanently etched anywhere, let alone my skin.

But I’m coming around to the idea… I don’t really think I have a ‘tattoo body’ though

I have a dragon on my right arm, and a half sleeve of Egyptian mythology on my left which will eventually be a full sleeve. Currently have Anubis, the Eye of Ra, the pyramids and the Sphinx done. I've been to Egypt a few times and the history and the mythology has always intrigued me

For me, they're kinda permanent. If I fuck up a piece of clothing I've wasted some money. Tattoos... a bit different.

I have a full back piece and a half sleeve. I’d like the half sleeve finishing at some point but life kinda took over and it’s not been a priority. But it defo deserves the detail finishing.

"What’s the kinda range of cost of a half-sleeve?"

Massively depends on the artist. I charge £250 for a day sitting. Depending on the detail within the tattoo etc can change how many sessions it will take

"What’s the kinda range of cost of a half-sleeve?"

Depends how good your artist is, where you are in the country, and what kind of work you want done.

I know studios round here advertising full sleeves for £600, but I recently got quoted a full sleeve for £3500.

Whore has several - a small one behind her ear, her back, her ankle and the start of a sleeve. Most are mandala type designs, but her sleeve does include a fairly large infinity heart (poly symbol) and a design to represent a holiday she went on with her other partner.
