Having tried so many times via Fresh Start, patches, Champix etc: I've decided to go cold turkey. Alan Carr and chocolate are my only props.

1 week in and feeling good! £25 saved so far. Anyone else out there giving up?

Thank you.

I gave up for 2 years when my daughter was born, but somehow drifted back.

This time I'm serious! Good luck to you too.

Have you download an app? It tells you how healthy you get, how much you save etc.

I used to look at it every time a wanted a cigarette and killed the urge. I gave up cold turkey too. Now a year and 4 months and don't even want them now .

Keep it up cold

To OP stick to it, I quit a 40 to 50 aday habbit nearly 5 years ago now, and like the poster I quoted my daughter was my reason.

I found an app that has games on it to keep your hands busy when resisting the urge for one

Thanks all.

I didn't realise there were apps out there. That will be useful, I'll check them out.

Cold turkey is definitely the best way! Why try and slowly feed yourself the thing you are addicted to to give up, rather counter intuitive I find.

I managed 6 weeks last year, I will beat it soon! Alan Carr has some useful theories in it to get your head around quitting.

Good luck!

Good luck to all and thanks for the comments.

I've just downloaded "Cessation Nation" on the recommendation of another poster. It looks really useful.
