Does everyone have a dog?

I’m starting to feel like I have to get a dog.

It’s not that I dislike dogs I actually really like animals, I just dislike having a pet.

It’s like it’s great when they’re somebody else’s

So come on if I was to get a dog which is the best breed?

I dog is for life as the saying goes. You have to invest many many hours into their well being. If you have the time to loom after a dog, the breed should reflect on your way of life. If you have an active live like long walks/hikes etc. The breed should match this, say Collie, Spaniel or other gundog breeds. If your not very active than a lap dog, say pickenese (excuse spelling), pug etc.

Mines fluffy and loves a cuddle but he is an arsehole

No, German Shepherd has been recognised by the kennel club as a breed name since 1977. Alsatian name was used because of the negativity against Germany after the war.

Although Alsace where the breed originated from is now part of France....

Tbf I don't think it matters, German Shepherd/Alsatian is one and the same.

Think first if you have the time and lifestyle that would accommodate a dog , far to many people get dogs on a whim then abandon them a few months later, if you have and still want one then go for a rescue dog and give them a chance of a new life

No, and I'll never have one until I'm old and not able to do the traveling I do through ill health or something .. even then i probably won't have a dog. If you love your travel for long holidays and being able to do certain things, having a dog just isn't compatible. Too many folks used them as a kid substitute .. and plants are the new pets ..

So come on if I was to get a dog which is the best breed?

None with your attitude.

You’re more of an animal person aren’t you?

You don't come across as a responsible dog owner."

Fair enough. …. Do I come across more of a gerbil person?

"Not a German Shepherd, they're arseholes

Hahaha. They’re cuddly. And I thought we had to call them Alsatians now. ??? or have I got that wrong?

Mines fluffy and loves a cuddle but he is an arsehole

No, German Shepherd has been recognised by the kennel club as a breed name since 1977. Alsatian name was used because of the negativity against Germany after the war.

Although Alsace where the breed originated from is now part of France....

Tbf I don't think it matters, German Shepherd/Alsatian is one and the same.

"

Thank you. I knew there was something about it.

"No, and I'll never have one until I'm old and not able to do the traveling I do through ill health or something .. even then i probably won't have a dog. If you love your travel for long holidays and being able to do certain things, having a dog just isn't compatible. Too many folks used them as a kid substitute .. and plants are the new pets ..

"

I have a plant. Haha

I won’t get a dog, but it’s been great to read about everyone’s pets.

I’d never abandon a dog, you bring a dog into your family, and we don’t abandon family members do we?

I don’t have enough land for a dog that I think it would need or enjoy, and I don’t need the responsibility right now, maybe when I’m older.

We have a dog, he doubles up as both a waste food disposal and a hot water bottle, does fuck up our swinging life as getting a dog sitter overnight is a pain but we wouldn't be without him.
