Sexual health makes U.K. news headlines

Just caught R4 news headlines.

STIs are apparently at all time highs in all age groups in U.K. and of course funding for both diagnostic and treatment is an issue.

I know the issue is not confined to our swing community, but are we all, hand on heart, taking this issue as seriously as we should?

“Have fun, be safe??”

Carlisle usually

I take only the risks that I deem acceptable, and get tested regularly.

I do only tend to connect with people who I feel take reasonable care of their own and their partners' health

Taking it seriously? Yes. My free kit arrived in the post yesterday and I'll be doing it tonight and posting tomorrow.

There's absolutely no excuse for anyone swinging not to get regularly tested.

Isn't there something you can take beforehand to help stop infections ?

I doubt very much it's the swingers, the majority of us take these things seriously. When I met regularly I was rested at least every 2 months.

Joe public however seem to have a much more lax attitude sexual health.

Not attributing it solely on them. That comment was probably a little backward but it's not exempt

I think the staff interviewed were saying in some areas, waiting times were weeks if you needed to see someone and that was a major issue….. but you’re right, amazingly it’s still a free service!

I'm not surprised... I've tried all week to get an appointment (for contraceptive advice) and nothing available. You always used to be able to walk in and take a number (at local clinic)

I can see why people aren't getting tested, if they don't know about the postal kits.

Also, I guess lots of people are more active these days, in all age groups. It's probably the easiest time ever to meet people for casual sex.

Postal kits are not all areas, GUM appointments are difficult to get, kits you buy are very pricey for full screening... Nope, not that easy

I agreed with that. Everyone I've met through swinging sites has been very careful or been clear about what risks they tolerate.

I’m very lucky to have never had anything as I’ve never needed to be tested.
