Why is it you can easily find people that you like that are miles and miles away ? But it’s a challenge to find anyone local that you’re confident in sending a message to?

Easy. As your range increase, the rate of people in that search increases at an exponential rate

For example, going for 5 miles to 10 miles doesn’t double your search area. We all know how Pi works right?

5 miles is about 20 miles area

10 is about 78 miles area

Not to be pedantic but... (don't you hate when someone says they aren't something right before they are exactly that thing lol) wouldn't 5 miles have an area of more like 30 something. It twice the radius times 3.14 right? X

Easy mistake to make, you are confusing radius with diameter

Radius = centre of circle to edge

Diameter = straight line across whole circular

Circumference = the distance around the circle

Area = all the space inside the circle

Right but if someone is 5 miles away that would be the radius not the diameter. Because youre the center of the circle not the edge.

Then why are you only struggling with the 5 mile example? The 10 would also be wrong

I suppose I could have been clearer on defining the search area though. I meant a 5 mile circle vs a 10 mile. So +1 mark for spotting it on 5 mes, but no mark for missing the same on the 10 mile options. Plus 2 marks for showing your working out though, great job

Mate I have exactly that issue, anyone I've clicked with lives millions of miles away.

But, all of those people ive met and spoken to have been through the forums where you get the chance to actually show a bit of personality and people can feel you out.

Outside the fourms you have to be the most appealing person In somebodies inbox straight of the bat. There's no chance to shine.

And there's nobody local to me in these forums

I don’t think that’s just related to distance, either. There is that thing where people fancy people who are not interested in them at all

And this came from a guy, who obviously likes to play games, who told me ignore the woman you fancy ….. genuine

Apparently, some people like the unobtainable. Who knew???
