Many people use things like "unpopular opinion" or free speech as a guise to be able to say things that are gratuitously cruel - thinking that this somehow justifies some immunity to a response.

Custard Creams are great for about 10 biscuits, after which I don't even want to look at another one for about a decade.

I largely agree - except I'd say that people are entitled to opinions, but they're not entitled to be taken seriously, and we seem to have forgotten the "marketplace of ideas" thing, that bad ideas are outcompeted by good ideas with better backing.

Everyone's entitled to an opinion: but some opinions are fucking stupid, and we should say so.

Instead we get a bunch of people who shout nonsense thinking they're important and special, a subset of which use marketing/ psychological tactics and money to buy a bigger megaphone.

Years ago, due to some fuckery with train tickets, I was left hanging around London with a couple of hours to kill. I walked from Fenchurch Street to St Pancras by way of HMS Belfast. It was just one famous landmark after another, often within sight of each other. It was like being in a theme park or Las Vegas or something. I'd never realised everything was so close together.

What kind of consequences? Freedom of speech means freedom from consequences by the government. Freedom of speech means freedom from violent consequences by others. If a government could take action based on my speech or if someone could resort to violence based on my speech, it's not freedom anymore.

While I don't completely agree with the business part, it's a reasonable take. Unfortunately, the whole "freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequence" line is so vague that many use it to justify violent response and government action.

This was gonna be mine! Genuinely and sincerely, I've read so many threads and comments suggesting its a bit hostile or cliquey in the forums and so far I've round it to be a genuinely open and entirely accepting community, generally populated by bright funny people. Some of thos people even have nice boobies and stuff!!! I feel totally at ease and welcomed. Aside from the odd dick. Bit they're just dicks. They can't help it. They don't know any better.

Do you think maybe the welcome depends on what you look like?

I don't know really. I mean I'm deeply average middle aged man with a William Shatner type "kinda in shape but still got droopy moobs" bloke and actually its a lot of straight blokes that have brought me into the chat. Thats just my experience of it. I've felt generally pretty welcome

This is something I've only learned of recently! It's one thing for men to pay more for a membership and to get in, but the fact they're not even allowed in on the night where they're most likely free and most likely to meet people is genuinely insane to me. I don't know why any guy would do it.

I get it to a degree.

Seems the majority aren't specifically looking for single guys so clubs have to cater to that crowd. I mean, we know lots of couples that won't play with singles at all and deem it "not swinging" because they're gatekeeping it to couples only.

However, I don't think it'd be a problem to introduce an occasional Saturday for those who do enjoy their company, those that don't mind etc.

I'd be interested in seeing it to see what the numbers are like. More than half of our swing friends won't go any other night as single guys are welcome so perhaps the loss from couples and single women doesn't justify it? Idk, I'm not a club owner so couldn't speculate. But it's a shame. We go on Saturdays and generally just socialise and play kink or play ourselves, the occasional Friday we can get to is our big play night and they're always amazing!

I also do get the side that single guys can become part of the wanking dead and people can feel harassed. I'm not saying that doesn't happen. Personally though, we've had far more problems from single women and the female half of couples touching, joining play, trying to kiss following us etc without consent and even listened to them joke they act in ways a single guy would be banned for thinking it's cute. We've had 1 single guy who just got abit close and we had to ask him to give us some space. So perhaps our view is also clouded by being lucky enough to have not encountered problems

Oh I completely get it from the club's perspective and how they try to cater to couples and single women more as they want to encourage more of them to join and attend. I suppose I was just looking at it from a single guy's perspective when it comes to parting with my money for a membership but I suppose with volume of single men, there will always be those who will be happy to.
