who finds this phrase a little distateful in news reports/speeches.

I first noticed it with Obama at the recent school massacre, then I heard it again on the BBC yesterday about the young girl who was stabbed to death.

Do you find it simply wrong to say they are 'fallen'. Surely they did not die fir a cause or purpose or any kind of duty?

It heroises them in my view - and is quite a worngful portrait

Lazy journalism .. Latest buzz word . In my opinion the phrase should only be used for service personnel killed in service of their country

It was Obamas own speech about Sandy Hook where I first heard it .. id have never thought to hear it on the bbc so casually though
