Been debated upon for years, but bearing in mind they were created to have a soft base as it allowed for better mixing of flavours , does this stand it in the biscuit or cake bracket?...discuss people ?

They are cakes, sold in packets like biscuits. As are Tunnocks tea cakes and both are awesome.

It's down to water content.

Biscuits are dryer than the average atmosphere and absorb moisture.

Cake is more moist and loses water to the atmosphere.

Cake tins and biscuit barrels for the win.

No Jaffa Cakes are not biscuits....they wouldn't be called Jaffa Cakes if they were....they're mini cakes which I love....on the shopping list they go....haven't had them in years....

You are correct. In my haste i got it the wrong way around and they are classed as cakes for tax purposes. They should thus belong in the cake aisle.
