This is an interesting topic - and in the wider picture opinions in Germany are divided about whether it is an invasion/ curtailment of the free press. Somehow I dont think the dabte is over ...just yet.

"well they havnt got the babies consent have they.

getting consent from the mother is geting consent of the child

If a parent can give consent to just about anything to do with their child from birth ( including giving it up) then surely their consent to filming the birth is all that is needed.?

To be honest, I was at the birth of both my children.

I was also at the birth of my first grand child.

Each time I found the whole thing so personal and humbling I cried.

I fail to understand why anyone, would want the whole world to watch, such an intimate part of their life.

Does that point also go for uncle Joe filming his baby niece on a phone cam just after birth??

Personally I would not agree to have anybody present at such an intimate and special moment - other than immediate family.

Some folk have no self respect, or they would run a mile from JK.

I am curious why you would think that Germans considering something an "invasion of privacy" a joke ?

Germany has one of the most progressive cultures when it comes to TV / Media. I find it amusing that they consider something such as that programme an invasion of privacy given some of the other programmes which they show on German TV.

My original comment had nothing to do with the war - though on seconds reading I can see how someone may consider it as such.

My daughter and I were in casualty at Kings when they were filming 24hrs in A&E. They asked us if we wanted to be in the series we declined and she was only there for chest pains.

I most certainly wouldn't want a production company between my legs as I give birth.
