Should you bring your ex to first date?

From the land of haribos.

I was watching a fun movie called the love punch yesterday, with brosnan and emma thompson, it was fun, have you also seen it?

It was in the end of the movie where she and her ex waited at the beach for the private boat that her date was on, both of them jumped on it and she was at the front with her date as he was stearing the boat, whilst her ex was sitting down further away ant the end, her date asked her, do you still love him and she replied with a doubtful look to him, she wasn't sure about it.

What is your view about it? I think that it is a big no to bring them with you as it probably would put you off the date with them

Hell

I’ve had 3 long term relationships, I couldn’t bring any of them on a date because I’m not in touch with any of them any more

That would be a red flag with an accompanying Mariachi band.

There has been an episode of first dates where an ex husband and wife were there at the same time also an episode where a guy's mother was there.

Both examples would cause me to have a sudden urgent appointment elsewhere.

I see yes and on those episodes as well, same here, with the both examples there. I would also have an appointment elsewhere too

Central

Having boundaries, including imposing them on yourself, is something that I really believe to be important. They help me. Relationships are also healthy for us but I don't see an ex having any relevance to the foundation laying of a new one. We do need to move on and to have let go of the past partner.

Whilst it is not ideal, if one want to take someone along for support, maibe instead of having them beside you on the date, maibe a better option would be so that they would shadowing you from a distance
