I always thought it’s because they ignored them or there in box was full ?

I always get Unread. You need to wait for someone else to answer.

Do you mean in your inbox?

If someone sent you a message and then sent you another message before you'd read the first....

Then you open the most recent message but don't scroll down far enough past the first/ original message, the original one still shows as unread and your inbox stays yellow with 1 unread message.

There is likely a much easier way to explain this!

It’s means a glitch in the systems has prevented them getting it

You should resend it until the glitch is fixed

An unread message isn't a complete loss but a read one and no response well that's another story

I've sent a number of messages to the same person.

So for instance the one on Friday has been read

Saturday says unread

But Mondays has been read.

No , I'm checking messages I've sent . So the outbox.

And you only get one 'postbox' even if 5 messages have been sent. It just 1 thread

Means they deleted your conversation on Saturday without reading the message then read the Monday one

I thought if they just deleted without reading it shows as read but with strikethrough text?

You can read a message then Mark it as unread after. Might be if more than one person shares the account?

I think I've sussed it out.

I think it's when you've replied to a message via the outbox, not a brand new message
