I drank a whole bottle of rum and threw up in my bed

But I did also get dumped just before my birthday so I was drowning my sorrows for that, and for spending my birthday alone

Uh. Last year I was unable to see my favourite people because life was a dick and my only human contact was the clinic for my STI testing.

I live in hope that this year will be better

Oh Christ, I was looking for ideas. Although I've got one already but that wasn't quite what I expected. Shame it wasn't your ex's bed you threw up in.

Happy birthday!

Birthdays are for the young and I do very little. Mines up for renewal soon.

I love to celebrate others but I hate people putting themselves out for me.

I make a nice meal and enjoy a nice bottle of red.

Went for a really long walk.

Listened to my favourite music.

Took myself out for dinner.

Drank my favourite wine.

Had one or more ladywanks, and overall thanked my lucky stars I wasn’t spending it with people who really didn’t give a shit after all…

I really enjoyed it but it would be lovely to have something different next time

Actually makes me feel better knowing I'm not alone with no birthday celebrations. My actual birthday I went to work and in the evening went to teach my jiu jitsu class. Normal day. I was lucky enough to have my best friend take me out at the weekend and spoil me rotten with the presents she bought me. Not ashamed to admit her incredible generosity brought me to tears. She bought me more carefully thought out presents in one go then I have received in my 50 years of life. Tried to hold it together but cracked when she hugged me.

I tend to go on holiday for my birthday. At least then I know I'm doing something in a place I want to be. I often go on guided your type holidays and often the hotel or tour guide organise a cake or balloons (or local equivalent) to mark the occasion. I've had some awesome birthdays like this actually!

I fee like I should sit in and do absolutely nothing as a mark for all those that do theirs alone.

But I didn't do my first 17 birthdays in life and this will the first time since where I don't do anything. There's a part of me that doesn't want to go back 'there'.

And my birthday is on a weekend that I'm as free as a bird on.

During the day, I took myself out for a day in a hotel swimming pool and sat reading a book, had an ice cream (in November) and wangled a free breakfast. Then I took myself for a late lunch (on my own too) and then to the bank! I sat at home and did some work in the evening. Mr KC didn't get back from a business trip until almost midnight and had departed the previous evening.

I had my 50th on my own in Ibiza. Flew out, hired a car, drove north. Visited tons of beaches, snorkeled in the wilds, went hiking, did a cacao ceremony and ecstatic dance, partied, ate gorgeous food, chatted to strangers. I trusted that it would be great.. And it was!

I stayed in finca on a communal land and two others had birthdays too. They had organised a party with djs under the fig trees and I danced all night wooo!

I definitely had a little cry on my actual birthday and felt a bit lonesome..until I remembered where I was!

It's not for everyone but I love a solo adventure. Somehow it's easier and more simple.
