Personal ads in contact magazine.

This is more for the older guys here...before this website back in the 1980s there were ads in contact magazines where you would send an sae along with a fee for each one and most you never got a reply...however I did meet a woman I would stay with for five years through an ad....so that was a good result...any others have good or bad memories of ads in contact magazines ?
