I often send that type of message after seeing platonic friends, especially if I've been to their house. I word it appropriately though. If I haven't had a great time but I like the person I'll say words to the effect of 'it was good seeing you'. If I don't like the person but politeness calls for a follow up I say 'thank you for meeting me'.

Nah I don’t send that kind of message. It’s a bit needy. I don’t judge anyone who says it though.

I suppose it depends on the person - I have a mate who absolutely hates when people grovel. He preferred jokes and piss taking. The other day a woman sent a text to say “thanks” to him after sex and it really put him off her in a big way.

Yes, I'm similar. My friends definitely receive that message because I'm feeling all soft towards them and it's nice to show thanks. Appreciation for them being them.

Yes of course. It would be odd if there was a saved message copied and pasted regardless of how you feel.

There's an element of politeness definitely - you can express thanks without saying or hinting 'let's do that again'.

Within my friends we always message each other when we get home safely. Because some of us are liabilities

and there’s always a “wonderful night, thanks for coming out”.

Every meet (except for 1 ginormous asshat of a man who doesn’t deserve even my thoughts) asks me to message once I’m home. And there’s always been a “that was amazing, can’t wait to see you again etc”

I think it shows respect to ensure someone is safe & also happy. But that’s me.

I can see where “thanks” as a stand alone comment may look odd, but as a whole example as above it’s a good thing.

I’m now wittering and rambling…

I think knowing and having compatible communication styles is important - for some it might be seen as being needy, for others no message like that might be seen as being rude. It varies so much.

I do if I’ve met someone for the first time and would like to see them again. That’s both plutonic and sexual. I’ll use it to indicate I’d like to see them again.

Yes I pretty much always text anyone who has made time for me platonic or not to give my thanks. And even if I met somebody and we weren't compatible I would still thank them for their time. It's a very quick and simple thing to do. I can't believe someone might think I'm grovelling by saying thanks.

Yeah, I'll send it to pretty much everyone who took the time to meet me whether those are friends or more sexual meets. It's just a nice touch and can help with the come down if you've had a particularly amazing time, I find.

Not at all! That's really sweet.

I like when people say "message me to let me know you're safely home". Especially if I've traveled. It's like a little sign of respect and care for another.

People who are liabilities need to be checked in on.
