Near Wells

I had money when I turned 40 and had a house with quite a bit of land. I hired a marquee, booked a rock band and invited loads of friends and acquaintances . It was a brilliant night.

For my 50th I booked a small restaurant for myself and a few friends and had a night.but quiet night .

I’m 60 in March and money is disappearing faster than ever and getting harder to earn so I haven’t made any plans.

I did all my favourite things:

Spent time with special people in my life

Hiking

Swam in the Pacific Ocean

Ate my favourite fruits in excessive quantities

Laughed loads

Felt loved

Oh, I also lost my favourite sunglasses in the ocean. That was sad.

Manchester-ish

I had a little family party at my mum's house and looking back on my FB ti_eline I think we took the kids to pizza hut too

Oh, and the people from the gym bought me a big cake so we probably did a workout with lots of 40s in it, maybe there was a bbq there too.

If you are looking for ideas they will probably have flying cars and holidays on the moon by the time you're 40, so I'd give it a year or so before you book anything.

Many things. I had a birthday month

A weekend away with one group of friends - a boozy chaotic city break, karaoke, dancing, bowling, cabaret, shopping, rowdy fun and a lot of laughs.

A family party at my parents house.

Another weekend away with other friends in a big country house with a pool and hot tub, cooking together, a black tie dinner evening, games, dancing, countryside walks, nature and mushrooms. Fun and love.

Went to some gigs, a couple of art exhibitions, a big rave, and few intimate small dinners and catch ups.

And I just had a big warm rush of gratitude writing this and remembering it all - thanks OP

Had my 40th a few weeks into the first lockdown - was NOT what I had planned obviously!! Some friends sneaked out and dropped pressies on the door step which was nice. Kids unpacked every single toy in the house and made a banner for a toy tea party. Still annoyed (by lockdown not the kids!) and planning to throw a big 45th!
