Fairly settled. Good job, mortgage, in the early years of being with my husband, who was then my boyfriend.

I felt grown up but was a little naive.

Also horny. I was very horny

But, I was still suffering from depression, low self esteem and finding life a bit of a struggle financially. Just about to marry J, we had our own house and used to have 1/2 a tub of Ben and Jerry's each for dessert at weekends. Thursday nights were booze night with a quiz on the MSN message board we were involved with.

We bought an MGB that was as old as us and spent the summer on honeymoon driving through Europe getting sunburnt and fucking on deckchairs. It was glorious.

If you are currently in your 20s and value the thoughts of a d*unken old man...

Really good question. Every 3 years from childhood felt like a big shift into something else.

23/24 was the shift into major relationship, a focus on working hard, less "mate" stuff.

26/27 was marriage, real career options opening up, very infrequently with teenage/early 20s mates.

29/30 was proper home/mortgage, fatherhood, career really accelerating.

Always the "same" as I am now, but different aspects of the same person in the ascendant or descendant.

I like this question OP .

The definition of a wild child , reckless as hell, spent money like it grew on trees, made bad choices, slept very little, went out 3/4 times a week and just generally didn’t give two fucks about much -do I regret it? Hell no - to be honest there’s glimmers of all of these behaviours in me still 10/12yrs later and I hope they never leave me.

I’ll always be a party person I just know my limits and I am far more grounded and a lot more happy than I was then, stopped looking for a ‘fun time’ in the wrong places/people and found someone who taught me what it is to be loved - life’s a learning curve x

Twenty six?

Working long hours. Working hard, partying hard, earning good money, renting with a couple of people - clichéd but I was having a fantastic time and my energy didn't dip. I went through a City boy phase - it was a thing and I was chaotic. Had many fantastic adventures to London, back up to Scotland.

I was also a selfish dick. Pushed people away because I had major commitment issues. Didn't talk to or bother with family.

Twenty seven? Things changed. I met my fiancé. Tried to keep him as a friend I'd fuck on breaks away. That didn't happen.

(I love him really )

I was kind of trying to steer my life in a different direction than it where it was going.

I worked in retail, which I really didn't like.

Women would see me through the shop window and come in to tell me I was pretty.

However, fraternizing or even dating with the opposite sex was completely off my radar.

I'm still steering that ship and thankfully it's more on course.

"Really good question.

It’s cool that you can section your life like this in your mind. Your 26/27 sounds amazing"

Thank you Pickle. You, and my kids, have been royally fucked over and for many of you life doesn't get going for 10 or 20 years later than Boomers and Xers (my lot).

Neoliberalism was never the answer. It was dog-shit that looked like icing, and the 07/08 Crash proved it. Almost two lost generations now.

Well was but size of a shoe box. No Internet. Porn vhs tapes or just top shelf mags. Looking back they where start of our swinging as both enjoyed reading stories looking adds etc. Good number years before tried swinging.

Lifes departure lounge NN9 Northamptonshire East not West MidlandsMidlands

For me the ages in question would have been 58 - 60 years ago, i.e. 1966 to 1969, difficult to remember that far back.

However I bought my first house, had a few good jobs, my choice of cars was Mini Coopers. Keys in the Bowl parties were in full swing, No breathlyser, eat out 4 or 5 nights a week, Steak & Chips plus a dessert for £1.50 at a Bernie. Radio 1 appeared on the scene so all in all a good period in my life

I was 26 in 1996 and a strong powerful woman living my best life. It was my penultimate year of studying at university and I’d had a year out working in The City for Lloyd’s of London, I was a size 8 with 32G boobs and pixie cut hair, I looked like a lollipop. Trainspotting was my theme tune, Buzz lightyear was my hero and the Euros broke my heart (that kit!?). The open relationship I was in wasn’t the hedonistic party I craved, take that split up and my mini metro got taken for a weekend from a railway car park.

So in summary, I was very different then to how I am now and altho I like both of those versions of me, I think I am happier now and I know myself better in this version and prefer this one compared to that one, but 54 year old me would still take 26 year old me out for lunch.

Much the same in many ways. Responsible for a house and a deep and loving relationship. Chasing my dreams, being creative. I was stronger, leaner and fitter than I am now, I guess that’s not surprising. I wasn’t as cynical about other people as I am today. I was more open and generous, and naive.

A good deal of responsibility workwise progressing up the ladder in my military career (joined at 19). Seen a fair bit of the world and life. Married and had my first child by 27. Also a Landlord for a few years by then and building capital for my future. Very secure, self sufficient and continuing to build a future for my young family.

Back then I never would have guessed that life would completely change and come crashing down within a couple of years. It seemed so secure. I could have never predicted ending up a single parent of two and having to completely figure out the world again. I would have never predicted the darkness, self discovery and the beautiful freedom and self love I have now. Or the amazing love of a great woman who knows me like know one ever has.

At 27 I had ticked so many boxes of adulting. If it was a game of top trumps I would have been a decent card on paper. However how much of that in the end mattered? At 40 I have true gold. Self awareness, self love and the love of the woman I deserve and who is made for me.

At 26 I was just starting to settle down after many years in trouble I was the typical bad boy before that born n bred Lambeth Londoner and always ending up in trouble one way or another and couple prison sentences later. I didn’t have much in life a crap up bringing typical council up bringing then decided enough was enough and to sort my shit out so I got straight and got a decent job and place of my own and from that day on I was a honest hardworking guy and now respected by all that know me and can safely say I am genuinely one of the nicest guys anyone can have the pleasure of knowing if they want to. I now work hard and have my own little buisness in the side and live life to the fullest and take opportunities if they come my way as you never know what’s around that corner in life xx remember peeps it’s never to late to change it just takes will power and determination x

Snake hipped, snake booted, & super sexy (well, so I thought) hair so long & luxuriant I could sit on it.

Shagging everything in sight

Inherited 2 houses, new XJS, when I wasn't off my tits in a field at weekends I'd be off on my travels

So really, an absolute twat

The hips have gone, as has the hair, women, houses & Jaaaaag. Not taken any recreationals since I discovered it took me 2 days to stand up afterwards...

Still have a penchant for dodgy reptilian footwear though
