"So I live on the edge of a quite bad are of Norwich. (Slum landlord = Reasonably cheap rent) All my neighbours are alright, except my upstairs neighbour. Probably she moved, because it's quiet up there for weeks, and she's the extreme opposite of quiet.(Fingers crossed) I'm a good neighbour. *Mostly quiet (Well, no meets so far) *Feed the neighbour's cat when he's on holiday. *Collect the parcels left outside. *Help and talk to everyone. *Pick up rubbish, if I drop it *Usually don't complain about noise, unless it's something constant/extreme. (2 am on a Monday night) *Lock the doors when I enter *** Is something strange in your neighbourhood? Someone into something fishy? Some new gossip maybe? Do you suspect some of your neighbours are swingers?" I don't understand this post

"One neighbour is a junkie. The other a raging alcoholic. The tree surgeon is kinda hot but god only knows that goes on in his house. I'm just glad no-one has complained about the sex noise from mine. They can clearly hear it from how much they went on about the old dog barking ![]() *** " They can clearly hear it from how much they went on about the old dog barking " ![]() ![]() ![]()

"It’s pretty fucked, but my neighbour is an elderly woman and it sounds like she’s being beaten up most nights. I can hear her screaming and telling someone to get off her Pretty sure it’s a pet parrot attacking her because I can hear something that doesn’t sound human I’ve considered calling the police, but she ignores any attempt I’ve made to say hello as a neighbour, so I just think fuck her, she can handle her parrot herself I’m 99.999% sure she lives alone " *** I've made that mistake once. My upstairs neighbour was crying, screaming and throwing things around. Haven't done anything for a few minutes, because everyone lives their lives however they want to. Sounded she was alone though. I wasn't sure she was being attacked or hurting herself or ...etc. I called 112 (All emergycervises) and told them I'm not sure she needs police or ambulance. They sent police and talked to them on their way out. She had some episode (mental issues) and they said she's okay now. I met her in common areas and she was being rude about it. Numerous times they were fighting (physically too) with her boyfriend after this. I either tuned up the TV or went outside for a cigarette. Never tried to help her ever again. Felt bad about it, but can't help everybody it seems.

"Ok so I have a question for everyone. I'm currently going through some shit with my neighbour. He's a career scumbag in his late 40's who lives at home with his mummy. Never worked and been in and out of prison, the whole family are loud aggressive assholes. I have a lot of noise issues from them. I've been putting up with this for best part of 20years. Recently the noise issues have reached another level and for the first time I had to call the council out of Hours environmental services. Just got off the phone to them today and they have said that it's up to me if I take it any further,I said I was concerned about repercussions if I make it official. Given their history and it's a large family. And it's just me and the wife do I leave it be, spend thousands getting the house ready and move probably at a loss. Make it official and let the authorities deal with it and hope that the law will protect myself and wife and our property if they decide to get nasty. Bear in mind that this is a neanderthal who can just about walk in a straight line d*unk every day and off his nut on drugs. Or Another option?? Ps. I'm not resorting to violence that's not my thing I gave that up a long time ago. Cheers " *** If it's mostly noise issue, then make some noise when they're sleeping. give a heads up to the other (nice) neighbours possibly. Still might have consequences, but if they step on your property, then you can take it further. (I read there are other issues, but nothing you can do about those without consequences) * No good solutions for this really.

"The lady next door (Mrs Flip Flop) is nice, as is her family. Never hear them or really see them. Then there's the OAC's (old aged chavs) the other side...they're OK but noisy with their garden parties. Then there is the old lady opposite (Mrs Butty pop) because she would always come out with buttys and pop for my kids if they were playing. Then there is him (Mr Sausage) he's nice and always gives my dog a sausage when he sees us, he has a beautiful German Shepherd who likes to huff and wuff at my German Shepherd, they are always excited to see each other Quite lucky really " *** Wow! You are kind of lucky. ![]()

"The best neighbours I ever had were quiet, polite on the remarkably few occasions I spoke to them and caused no grief. After being neighbours for a good few years turns out it was a we*d farm. Better than the annoying noisy twats that moved in after them. Thankfully moved since and the new neighbours seem nice. ![]() *** I had a neighbour like that as well. He had a *let's say* illegal dispenser business going on. He was a seemingly nice guy, but his customers were absolute scums mostly. Even had a fire, because the big competition wanted to shut down his "business". Firefighters, police...etc. Apparently it was a small fire, but all the windows were smashed in with bricks probably. (Just learned about it in the morning on my way to work. Scary!)

"One of my neighbours was tasered by police after a stand off lasting (what seemed like) several hours in the middle of the night recently. I was watching from upstairs, next door were out having a cup of tea and a good old look, eventually someone else shouts “WILL YE JUST NICK HIM ITS 4AM” They did indeed nick him and I haven’t seen him since Also one of the other neighbours had their house set on fire. Nobody will need more than 3 guesses to find out which town I live in, it’s famous " *** 1 of the neighbours had a BF (tough guy) had some battles with Police (with tasers and pepper spray) pretty much once a month. Usually they carried him downstairs while he was crying like a baby. She seems like a nice girl and thankfully they broke up.

My initial reaction is, unless it is social housing which gives you some recourse, people can pretty much do what they like in and around their own homes. The amount of good, physical evidence you’d need to bring about some kind of ant-social prosecution is staggering. Depends how otherwise happy you are there. If it’s really getting to you, maybe a move is a good thing. As you suggest, it’s not a seller’s market just now. And you may end up with c***s for neighbours in the new place. Good luck!
