I’d say yes but due to my avoidant attachment and C-PTSD, in order to avoid such “heartbreak” I step away as soon as I feel someone is getting emotionally closer, or if I do.

Not something I’d recommend but just my own experience.

Quite true. I don’t get over heartache, the reason the I let them in was how I felt, and my feelings are sincere and deep. It’s hard to get over anything that feels like falling in love again. So I just carry that heartache. I learn to live with it.

Life moves on op, and time heals apparently.

Yep. I'm going to agree with that. You've said heartbreak OP so I'm guessing it's more than a casual friend being a bit of a dick in the hypothetical?

I think taking time for yourself, making yourself a priority and putting that energy back in to you is important.

Sex can be great, everyone knows that. But when he's spaffed and left, you're left with yourself. If you're happy with you? Great. Do all the sex. If you're not? Heal first.

I've recently come out of a long relationship a couple of months ago and this is my two cents.

Breaking ties, cutting communication and deleting old pictures / videos etc is the best way to move forward.

No contact is not about erasing the memories or dismissing the significance of the relationship, it's a commitment to your own healing and growth. In time, you will emerge from this experience stronger, wiser, and ready to embrace the new chapters life has in store for you.

Allow wounds to heal without constant reminders of what once was. Remember, healing is not a linear process, and there will be days when the ache is more pronounced. During these times, lean on your support system – friends, family, or even professional guidance – to stay committed to your path.

Healthy distraction is good but using sex to get over someone can be unhealthy, not to mention dangerous.

Time is really the only solution I'm afraid, but know it will pass.

If it’s true love then no. For me that would mean stepping away from our mutual connection ie fab and filling my time with meaningful activities elsewhere. A shag or two isn’t going to help.

But if it’s a regular fb that’s run its course, probably yes. Those feelings are more easily experienced with another.
