Is it a happy new year yet?

*my last thread about all this festive/ new year stuff.

I’m wishing everyone a happy new year, and I’m hoping it will be, but is it?

Has there been any really good news or plans landed that’s made you smile and look forward to stuff. Things you didn’t expect and had just happened this year already?

Well if or when get we get a new government. The polarisation of politics will be an interesting watch with the Tories being able to say anything they want with no responsibility for their actions and able to blame Labour for everything.

It’s a curious thing that we expect sudden and severe changes from ourselves and the world, simply because the year changes and the calendar resets.

The reality is that it’s just another day, we’ve successfully achieved another journey around our star, nothing else has changed. It’s setting ourselves up for disappointment and failure if we constantly look for change and expect huge differences without anything other than the new year to bring them about.

I don't do Christmas to a large extent.

I don't do new year either.

Both the statements above are a bit misleading but it's too time consuming to explain my view on them.

As for a GOOD/HAPPY NEW YEAR.....

As soon as people realise that it is their reaction to everyday situations and relationships that decides whether it is 'good' or 'happy' or not the sooner they can stop indulging in the self inflicted misery that makes them believe that the world is out to get them.

They get themselves ffs....

I'm in this group... I still have situations going on from last year, nothing magically resolved itself at midnight on new years eve. And if you want to change, you can do that at any point in time.

I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves this time of year, to make changes, be better, blah blah blah. I'm sacking that off. I'm going to keep going with my tried and tested one foot in front of the other technique. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the ritual of saying happy new year to others, because I do. I just don't expect miracles of myself or others.
