A log cabin, far away from the crazies

I've been on Fab many times. I rejoin, spend hours on here, end up getting bored and realising I've spent ages on here, I then delete my account only to rejoin a few months later.

Whenever I do come back I notice changes in my mental health, not good changes. I honestly don't think Fab is good for ones mental health. I'll get shot down but that's the norm when people give their personal opinions.

Does anyone else agree? I could be the only person to think this but I just thought I'd share my thoughts

You're not the only person to think this.

If you do leave I hope you don't come back - for good reasons!

If it makes you feel bad you're better off away from Fab.

Good luck.

Fab is just another type of social network IMO. End of the day, you are the one who should take control of your habits.

The mental health issues you pointed out are usually linked to addiction, which is also a problem in other social networking sites. I realised it long back and changed my habits to not being hooked on to this all the time. My problem was not just with fab, but also porn and internet in general.

My solution was simply to go out as much as possible thereby limiting the time I get to sit on my arse at home and browse on my phone.

Adding to that, I was down sick recently and again started spending too much time on fab. I decided to just leave my phone far from me when I get to bed and that helped a lot too.

Hope this is useful for you.

I agree Fab could be bad for a person's mental health, much like anything can (I've also seen it be really helpful to people, too). If it's affecting yours negatively, and you know it's purely Fab and nothing else, then leaving is an easy fix.

Good luck, OP!

I totally agree with you, but don't have time to delete, then do another profile probably once a month, then wait 2 weeks.

Usually within a day I'm okay, anyway.

Good luck and see you soon!

I don’t think you’ll get shot down for saying that

Constant rejection isn’t good for anyone’s mental health and sadly that’s what fabs is for many guys

Looking after yourself is the most important thing and if something is making you feel bad, stop

Many don’t realise the harm it causes. It’s good you have.

Best of luck

It can be detrimental to one's mental health, yes.

It's something to be mindful of as you manage yourself and your inputs.

If it affects you that way then it's best to leave and not come back.

We've just had a break for a few months, put a meet up, thought we were getting somewhere. Then it's 'bring me a bottle of brandy' from a faceless, 1 hour old profile, we told him we don't drink he literally said "would fuck the fatty if you paid me"

I have little confidence as it is, this kind of shit, knocks it out of me more. Don't know why we bother.

If you're able to absorb this - it's not you, it's them. Some people behave appallingly towards others when they don't get what they want.

You do you op and look after your mental health but I think fab at times can bring highs and lows so no shame in taking a break now and again.

Good luck.

We all need to look after ourselves. Spending a lot of time on Fab isn't for everyone so I'm sure you're doing the right thing.

Good luck for the new year and every year hereafter.

"Fab is just another type of social network IMO."

It’s not really though is it. It combines the normal dopamine rush of being on social media and feeling artificially liked & significant with the feeling of being centre of sexual attention , the prospect of sexual activity with strangers or for many, repeated disappointment when none of those happen. It’s not quite another Insta or Facebook.

I would imagine for most people it’s damaging to mental health even if they don’t recognise it

I know. It still stings and I've been here for over 10 years, I should have thicker skin by now. I say this all the time to people and it's true " says more about them than you "...need to take my own advice x
