" Finding a venue in our chosen location (Shrewsbury) that doesn’t charge is virtually impossible which we have to pass on to the guests. Single men really up for it & paid as soon as I do sent info but you don’t want a “sausage fest”. Single ladies don’t appear to be interested. A balance is really difficult. And you don’t want venue to be too big or too small or drinks too expensive. It could be because of the time of year but I thought end of January after most have been paid would be a good time to get rid of some winter blues. Any tips gratefully received!! J x | |||

"Anyone who’s interested we host 3 a year. Next is March 16th. Lichfield isn’t a big city like Manchester and Brum, but we promise it’s a fabulous night and has the friendliest of attendees x" We totally recommend LichVegas especially if you prefer a “slightly smaller” crowd or are nervous about a 1st social. UTB is also great & we’re looking forward to our 1st Leeds social in Feb after hearing you rave about them

J x" Fair point about the venue, pain if you have to give a deposit. A few use a website to pay a fee so at least you'd get your money if they don't turn up. I've been to smaller socials in pubs where we just turned up but that's quite limited I suppose. There was one where they had balloons for a 'birthday party' so we knew who they were.
Not good if there's 2 parties in the same pub.

"Treat socials like meeting mates up the pub and you will be fine, just dont stand in the corner avoiding everyone, you gotta approach people and never ever expect to hook up, pushy men looking for sex are swiftly ignored and in some cases ejected. It's just a social seems hard for some to recognise unfortunately | |||

"We have also attended UTB which is great fun. Up north Leeds is an epic social, definitely worth a visit." Years ago I had my name down for the Leeds one but it seemed 80% couples and very fancy. I don't even own a fancy dress. I backed out. I think it's about finding a social that suits your vibe. | |||
