Sell - one thing winning the house but another to keep up with its running costs

"Sell - one thing winning the house but another to keep up with its running costs"

Exactly my thoughts. The houses look lovely but heating the darn things unless solar is already installed, maintenance etc would be way out of my budget. Then there's the cleaning of the place .

So I think I'd live in it for one summer then sell it

I'd stay in there for a nice Summer holiday, then get shot of it pronto! Would be too much upkeep to live in there permanently

just live in one room and use kitchen and bathroom that surely wouldn't take you over budget they throw in the rates for the first 10 years

I think the houses are only there as prizes because they are in some way unmortgagable. Might make selling them a challenge

I'd do this too. Might also be of benefit to have lived there briefly when attempting to market the house for sale.

Sell but aren’t these houses difficult to sell in the first place which is why they’re on Omaze? They’re always in London or far away from where I’d want to live and too grand. Need to see some more modest houses.

As others have said about the properties being defective in some why hence them being given away. Personally i’d rent it out as a holiday let or short term lease property then either live in it or attempt to sell it. Or use it for sex parties

There was one near to us . Had a nosey from outside. Very grand but looked out of place .

I'd rather have a small house in a lovely rural setting. Give me a chance to live the Good Life, lol

I'd sell, mainly because they're not in places I want to live.

I mean the Lake District one would have been incredibly tempting, but, much as I love going up there, I couldn't relocate there permanently, and it wouldn't seem worth it to keep a place worth that much money to visit just a couple of times a year

i hear many of those house's have issue's, i may try to put it out for short lets and make money from it. if that wasn't going too well I'd sell and buy something better in Scotland at half the value

They certainly aren’t being given away, the ticket sales pay for the house and all other prizes, as well as a nice tidy profit.

It’s a business after all. They make more from raffling the house than they would selling it.

I'd stick it on Airbnb and have the best of both worlds. Hopefully it would increase in value too after a whiles

Next Door

I would probably keep it for a few months, have a family celebration there, let family stay, closest friends over, then sell it.

Upkeep/bills would be too much

Tom only bids on the ones he would keep but the poor cannot afford to keep the cost of running them so they should get rid of and bag the cash

Well... it's a long way away from where we work, so not ideal.

It's something we've discussed when the adverts have come on, and I think that the best option would be to rent it out. Either as a holiday let or long term. That way you'd get an additional income from it and still have the option to sell later.

I would sell all day long, absolutely no way I would be able to run that type of house on my wages. Beside I could get an affordable house with the money
