Not surprising really, but Chris Huhnes ex has been found guilty of perjury.

Both she and Chris Huhne allowed bail until sentencing at a later date.

This certainly became the case of the Hell hath no fury like the woman scorned and her mission to seek revenge by taking her hubby down has achieved exactly that for both of them.

Porridge for both coming up.

This was a charge of Perverting the Course of Justice not Perjury.

I found it quite amazing that this supposedly 'strong' woman should use the defense of marital coercion.

Her defence was interesting, but if you heard the tapes she released, the Sun Journo and the fact that she is a fiercely independent woman.. She was seriously ill advised but it was the only defence she had,

She will go down.

Dont you just love it when those smug bastards get their just deserts.

Hope they both get 2 years, but dont think they will even serve 6 months, before buying an MP or judge to get them out.

Unlikely as the guidelines for sentencing for guilty of concealing evidence to a police authority or court is I believe 3 months to 15 months....

They will both probably get a few months, it shouldn't be any heavier a sentence simply because of who they are.

In the eyes of the law that is, and should remain, irrelevant.

Guilty of perverting the course of justice.

Perverting the course of justice by procuring a false alibi - two years imprisonment.

Shame the judge will never do it though.

I believe that she did it to bring him down. The sun journo told her that she would be painted as the victim and would come up smelling of roses. She is a very stupid person for two reasons:

1: She incriminated herself by dobbing him in.

2: She took advice from a journalist.

She was always guilty, all she tried to do was mitigate.

They are going dowm, at best they'll get it suspended.

I think in some cases there is a genuine case to answer for marital coercion, but not in this one. She came across as a bitter woman scorned by her husband for another woman and decided to get even whatever the cost. I had to supress a laugh when her solicitor said she was 'disappointed at her conviction'. I bet she fucking was, like all criminals convicted of their crimes are.

I don't think a custodial sentence is warranted in this case for either of them. I think it would be a much better punishment to force them to get married to each other again.

Bitter women who's attempts at revenge have now backfired. She will be jailed and may even get longer than him because he eventually admitted it.

She was the victim of of a cheat, but after her actions I find it difficult to feel sorry for her. If her priority was her children and her dignity rather than a desire to hurt and ruin, she would have moved on long ago and certainly be happier than she is today.

Forget the motoring offence, that is a trivial matter

The important point is perverting the course of justice. If you try to cover anything up from the courts it is a very serious matter. Much more serious than the original offence. This is why they will probably both get jail time.

The concealment of evidence is also a crime under the 'Perverting the course of justice' umbrella, according to CPS publications.....look it up.

If you read the court summary the words 'concealing evidence' come up regularly in the text.

whilst i think its a bit of a waste of money banging them both up for something whilst serious was not violent etc, i think they will get custodial due to their status etc..

If you were defending yourself in court and the other side started lying, making it likely that either they'd get off or you'd go down, you'd be furious. (I'm sure it happens a lot)

The judge is trying to set the example that you cannot and must not lie in court proceedings. Without that, you may as well abolish courts. Thst's the issue here.

There is a scale for pleading guilty beginning at 33% at the first plea stage reducing to 10% as it was in his case.

I am putting myself up for a lot of criticism but I don't think they should be imprisoned. The trial cost £150,000. They will, in all probability be at home under curfew after two months on tags.

I would have sentenced them to £150,000 worth of community service. As it is they will go to cushy open jails and incur the taxpayer greater expense.
