Puma v Adidas....

Not really a sport, but a sport brand!!

I didn't know the founders were both brothers, Puma paid Pele £120,000 to tie his Puma boot laces during the World Cup, after promising his brother (Adidas) that they wouldn't approach Pele for sponsership etc. Don't think it went down too well. Interesting read.

I agree there's no doubt Steve Austin vs Vince Mcmahon was bigger for WWF/WWE.

Hart vs Michaels got interesting years after when you heard about how much they despised each other.

For those unfamiliar, Google "Montreal Screwjob" to see how deep their hatred went. From what I understand, Shawn Michaels back then was a real ego-maniac & Bret Hart was a guy who took himself VERY seriously as a wrestler, & their personalities clashed big time. They were both excellent workers in the ring, though.

The Montreal incident also probably marked the beginning of Vince Mcmahon becoming a big character in wrestling (and leading to his angle with Austin), as he was heavily involved.

I won't spoil it too much for those who want to go down that rabbit hole.

Make that a 3 way tournament.. Canada vs Russia…

Basically that is what the old “Canada cup” was invented for…

P.s if you look on YouTube for the Canada vs Russia 1987 world junior hockey you will see what is one of the most glorious hockey fights of all time… 10 glorious minutes that got both teams kicked out of the tournament!

We also get hockey fabled question “if a hockey fight is so bad, does turning off the lights stop it?” Answered…..

One of my greatest gaming achievements as a youngster was guiding Ebbw Vale FC of the Welsh Premier league to the Champions League Semi-Finals in Sensible World of Soccer

Couldn't quite get them over the final hurdle, despite the fact I'd spent hours of my time amassing a dream team containing a young Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs, Brian Laudrup, Alessandro Costacurta & Taffarel in goal
