Who you go to on YouTube for make up tips for old birds please? I feel in need of a refresh. If it takes more that five minutes I won't do it.

There are just so many of them, and too many talking nonsense. What sort of tips are you looking for?

Good question. It's difficult to describe but I feel I need to emphasise my eyes more without being overdramatic and brighten my skin with judicious use of highlighter. I do not want to be that woman who persists with the black eyeliner even though it no longer looks good.

Oh and about the talking nonsense! That's why I've asked here...all that waggling and telling me it's a 'go to' or 'to die for'

Next Door

Try some vitamin c brightening oil.

Use eye shadows as eye liner, as you can get softer effects.

Also get a darker and lighter concealer, so you can create natural shadows and hide lines.

Plenty of water, sleep and the attention of a young man.... that's what I've always been told anyway.

Good idea about using she shadow as liner. I'm not too concerned about hiding lines, it'd be nice to look 45 for ever but I'm not bothered about aging.

I'm 67 over a decade older than you.

I just feel I've got 'winter face' and could do with brightening up a bit

What about a tinted gel moisturiser? It gives a nice matt finish.. There ends my knowledge

The Bobbi Brown Jones Road brand of miracle balm blusher etc makeup looks good, and something I’d like to try - the results on mature skin look great.

I don’t really watch makeup videos as it all looks very complicated these days with the shading etc and I prefer the more natural look on me - so no help there sorry.

You may enjoy Wayne Goss' content. He tends to focus on a more soft and natural look, rather than full coverage with lots of contour.

Robert Welsh is good for general make up tips.....he's not in to all that baking and over use of concealer to brighten under eyes etc.

His channel with his twin, James, is great fun. James does skin care on his own channel.

One of them from trinny and Susannah also does tops for the older lady who just wants fresh looking skin.

I've been looking at a tinted moisturiser and adding my usual blusher. It seems an easy solution

Don't use too much highlighter or you'll look like a fairy (not that that is an issue if that's what you like )

Just a small dot of concealer on the inner and outer part of your under eye and blend out with your fingers.

A nice, sheer foundation perhaps and use softer browns to line the eye. Dont line all of the eye lid, just the outer third.

Thanks I'll look at Robert Welsh. The Trinny woman gets on my nerves a bit so I might skip that

Excellent! I can't bear foundation on my skin so I'll stick with tinted moisturiser I think. Great tip about the liner, thanks

I don't use make up other than lipstick and mascara, I'm beyond help BUT I find a couple of days application of D*VE gradual tan does wonders for my pale winter skin. People ask if I have been away for a few days...I wish!

Not a YouTube recommendation, but something which I absolutely love is the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm.

As someone who really isn't into wearing foundation, this works brilliantly for me combined with a dusting of bronzer. If you're near a Clarins counter at any time soon it may be worth sampling it.

I miss Debenhams for this. You could get samples of so much stuff before you committed to buying it

Best thing I did was book a lesson for me with an MUA.

I searched for one who specialised in hooded eyes etc (cos that is what I'm working with).

I can do fairly decent make up to make me look better now.

Deffo worth it

What about John Lewis? They usually have all the brands in the big stores and they'll do demos on people.

They're probably just as good but no stores close handy. I'll check Frugalista out tomorrow and Wayne Goss
