How do you feel about xxxxxx spread liberally everywhere? Usernames, messages to strangers, comments on the forum. It mystifies me.

A (made up) example:

Dear Gladys xxx would you like some tummy pumpy xxx in my dungeon xx

I'm a nice professional who always smells good

I don't really mind it.

I wouldn't use it in a work capacity. I do sometimes use it on the forums, it kind of softens what I'm saying or shows affection for another. In a similar way, I do use it on WhatsApp/Telegram. Not always. Most of the time one x but sometimes I even go so far as to send two.

A single x is the optimum for me, just shows genuine affection. Otherwise nothing on the end.

Multiple X’s ‘xxxxx’ feels like being 13 and trying to flirt over MSN

Conventionally, kisses were always symbolised by capital Xs.

Nothing appears more mean spirited tha a single lower case x.

I have noticed that more often than not it is men on here who use the lower case x.

I suspect it is because they don't quite have the courage to go for the full X but by not doing so, they appear half hearted.

Don't forget, also, that before the text messaging and internet age, 'LOL' meant 'lots of love' and not I am lolling about laughing my head off at something mildly amusing that, in most cases, could have been dealt with by using an exclamation mark instead of wasting two extra characters each time.
