Please can a solicitor pm me to see if my reasons to challenge the ticket are worthwhile and how to word the email to them using correct wording etc

Im no solicitor...well...not in the legal sense...lol

I have however challenged in excess of 25 tickets in the past and won most of them. You would be surprised how often they can be beaten with perseverance.

You don't need to lay a solicitor just challenge the reasons 9/10 are quashed,,,unless unwashed raked in disabled bay and running to the shops or were u parked in disabled bay in dogging site?????

Is it a parking ticket from a public car park? If so, it's my understanding that unless it's council owned, it's just an invoice and they can't force you to pay.

I could be wrong (I often am ), i'm sure someone will correct me if I am.

I have recently quashed a parking charge (private land invoice, not a fine) for parking my motorcycle at the hospital, the appointment overran by 2 hours so I hadn't paid enough.

I first lodged an appeal on the grounds that I was undergoing treatment so could not return to the car park and put more cash in the machine. Then watched the £30 go to over £1400 with increasing threats and various debt collectors / solicitors letters, they finally gave up one day before it was due in court.

Have often heard similar stories and it takes some bottle in guess to stand your ground when faced with say £1400 fine. But of course that's what they hope you won't do. Well done !!

Use google there is a specific website for this with some interesting forums that will give you all the information you require.

Now that's not accurate or really to the point of the thread one bit if you want to make points about benefits there are plenty about for you to have fun on.

Google is your friend here but the general idea is that if it was issued by a council or local authority you just pay or appeal if you believe you have grounds to

If it is from a private company for overstaying the 2 hour limit at a supermarket etc just ignore it and any follow up documentation they try and bully you with

challenging a ticket is very easy. I was given a penalty for not buying a ticket on a sunday, but using the car park.

Fair enough really.

But the price of the ticket outweighed guidelines as set by the Parking regulatory body. It states that the fine must be proportionate, that it must not exceed £85 (from memory) that adequate signage must be displayed throughout and ticket machines but be freely available.

There are also subsiduaries like the car park must be well maintained, people staffing the car park must wear appropriate id and enquiries must be dealt with swiftly and they must have open communication.

With mine the car park didnt have enough signage, it was a £95 penalty, no staff were present and when they were they didnt wear id, the call contact staff didnt reply to emails/ketter for weeks and I wasnt parked casuing any obstructions.

My advice, challenge it with your points, then challenge it again, they will then do you a favour and 1/2 the ticket price. Challenge this with more complaint points (service youve received/pictures) and then offer £5 to settle it. Mine took it

Both parties have to abide by the rules though, 9 times out of 10 the parking authority don't/haven't followed the rules either and so the parking ticket is not enforceable. For example if you park on double yellows that are broken/worn at any point along their length then the ticket is not enforceable

because i asked the trafic warden if i could park somewhere in certain circumstances and he said yes and then the same guy gave me a ticket the following week for doing what he said was ok

so thats why i am challenging it as it is taking the piss

Parents parked in a private car park paid for 2 hours then got a letter 1 week later saying they overstayed there 1 hr !

sent 4 letters with increasing fines and threatening court proceedings.

told them to ignore the letters nothing heard now for 6 months

Private land car parks like Asda for example are powerless in MY experience. At the last count, I had around thirty tickets, none of which were paid. They stopped putting them on the car in the end. That was at least two years ago and the letters stopped. They think they're very clever by writing to you, using large font red ink and using subtle wording like 'this may result in a debt collector calling...'

If they had any intention of doing so, they would say 'we WILL be calling'.

Sorry it's the rebel in me. But Asda have enough money from us over the course of a year!

You don't need a solicitor to challenge a parking ticket. When my children's father was in intensive care, the hospital rang my daughter to say they could do no more for him. She had to drive home from work, collect her boyfriend, drop him at work then go to the hospital. She pipped the speed limit and they sent her a ticket. She rang them and told them what had happened, they asked her to send them a copy of the death certificate and they wrote off the ticket

you will find supermarkets can't enforce parking tickets so park where you like

My sister got a tkt for parking in a disabled parking bay even tho she is disabled and had her badge in full view on the windscreen they still have the ticket, after asking for a copy of the photo they too which they must do, back came the photo and in the corner was her disabled badge in full view

Yup. By contrast, we parked in our local tesco car park and strayed over the time limit a little. Shortly after we received a very polite letter pointing out our indiscretion and in future could we please observe blah blah.

As a result, we've always kept within the allotted time. I guess it's all about the approach.

PCN's (Penalty Charge Notices) issued by either Local Authorities or private parking companies have the same legal status as an invoice. ONLY PCN's issued by a Police Officer or PCSO are legally enforceable and can get you in real hot water.

If it was the former who issued it, then write to them challenging it, set out your reasons clearly and make sure they understand that you will take the matter 'further' if they persist. Local Authorities are so mindful of being accused of wasting Council Tax payers money that they are unlikely to take it further. And, as others have said, the vast majority of challenged tickets are dropped by the issuer.

no your spot on parking tickets can only be issued on public high ways that does not include supermarkets
