When you hear "women can't be funny" the usual names get mentioned, dawn and French ECT but no many mention of her, but Caroline Aherne along with Catherine Tate and Joan Rivers are the 1st names I think of.

She was brutally hilarious at times. Loved everything she did.

Everyone always quotes her as Mrs Merton interviewing Paul Daniels & Debbie McGee but the one that got me was when she had Richard & Judy on and, without ANY hesitation, just dead pans straight to the camera and audience to her right "They're married you know... they're not mother and son."

Titz Towers, North Notts

A very talented person and she's done a lot of good with a bursary scheme for comics.

Saw her at a Granada studios tour once, really funny girl. I might have nicked a couple of her jokes.

Such a horrible situation. Poor woman. I'm so pleased they did a tribute to her. Royal Family is a beautiful work of art. My favourite

I'm abroad so can't see it until I'm back. She was amazing and such a tragic massive loss It seems unreal and our culture is badly lacking without her

Same as you Op I was also finding my eyes had sprung a leak.

You know when you’ve had a successful life when you leave behind happy memories and you are sorely missed.

RIP Caroline x

Yes, I saw that and it was really emotional. You forgot how the press hounded her so relentlessly (and so many others). What a talent.

The Royle Family will always be a favourite. I can watch it over and over.

I should turn the telly on sometime I guess, it takes a while for news to filter down when you don't partake in mass media it seems.
