Can people change from bad to good?

I was watching a christmas carol scrooge with the actor patrick stewart and I like the christmas message they gave that you can change yourself if you are bad to good, whats your view? I belive you can do it if the person really wants too

I’m proof you can change. In my teen years I was probably a couple of bad decisions away from a life of crime, some of my friends from that time are in jail, dead or addicted to drugs. If you met me now you’d never guess I was like that when I was younger because I made a massive effort to turn my life around.

I can relate to this so much. I found myself looking up a couple of different paths when I was younger,. I chose the wrong ones. I finally chose the right one. I once made a massive mistake, hence the reason why I’m single.

I’m the best person right now, then I’ve ever been because of self reflection, which is hard to take when you see a bad person in the mirror. That’s when you can’t live with what you’ve done, or what you’re doing.

I’ve got good morals, good integrity, good loyalty I’m the least selfish person I’ve ever been. What time is? I watch people around me, make good choices and changes in the lives for the better all the time,. Just because someone was once a Cunt, doesn’t mean they will stay that way, if theres good in someone, good will always win. I know people can change, I agree with Charles Dickens

Well said and I’m glad you managed to get to a place where you’re happy with who you are. I’m no saint but I’m a much better man than anyone ever thought I’d be and I’m content with that.

Now too many bad experiences has made me cynical. My new irmew is not changing anytime soon.

Yes, I think everyone has the possibility of becoming a better person but you have to want to do it and it can be hard work, depending on your circumstances. A supportive community helps a lot.

There’s a little good in the worst of us and a little bad in the best of us I’m talking spiritually and mentally. No one has a perfect track record, but I suppose as you get older and wiser and have less testosterone you make better decisions. But is anyone always good or always bad even in the way they think? the answer is no, it’s a ying Yang situation.

I think if people are capable of accoutability and self reflection it is possible to change.. But overcoming your unc*nscious bias is pretty hard and it will usually take quite a lot of effort

There are some thoroughly unpleasant people who will never achieve a level of self awareness

That’s a very familiar quote and if you got it from where I think you did, you understand the capacity to change.

Usually most people with bad behaviours don’t have a moment of realisation and work hard to turn it around.

I have seen plenty of people some would deem “bad” change their lives and the people around them for the better!!

I gave someone the chance to show they have changed, and all the tools and support to do it.

It’s my biggest regret. Not only had they not changed, their behaviour deteriorated and it turned my life upside down in the process.

People don’t change. Not in my experience.

My thought on this. A female I know met with a guy . She has had child with him. Yet so far he has assaulted her three times in recent months to my knowledge . Yet she still lets him visit child. He gives no financial support to her. I have tried to tell her he will not change . ( he has a court order from another female about abuse etc) Plus a restriction from a wife about seeing children.

Yet I am in wrong in her eyes for this, so much as not messaging me . He is not going to change ever ?
