What is a healthy body image?

Do you have one?

(This is for everyone who identifies as a woman x)

Morning Faith!

I think it's acceptance of your body as it is, the good bits and the flaws. We see so much about body positivity, but I don't know many women who are 100% happy with their bodies.

Anyone who is menstruating, goes through bodily changes every 3 or 4 weeks, and that's if your lucky enough to have normal, regular periods. One minute you think you're looking quite good, next you're bloated and looking like you've eaten more than your share at the all you can eat buffet!

And any of the lovely ladies who suffer with things like pcos, I can't imagine what that's like... Must be really hard to have a positive image of your body when it's doing that to you for weeks on end.

Then there's those of us who have been fortunate enough to have kids, that can change your body forever! And no one tells you about these things...

Acceptance and not comparing yourself unfavourably.

Acceptance includes other people accepting that it's ok for individuals to find their bodies perfectly fine *even if they don't*

I'm perfectly happy with my body and aside from when ill health strikes, I can't remember ever being unhappy with it. I know I could be taller, thinner, have nicer hair. But despite joking around about my tummy getting bigger, I actually am very happy with myself.

I guess that counts as good body image

I don't know.

A constant battle to be less unkind to myself than my baseline, I think. To shut out the constant stream of shit that is poured onto me by the society I live in.

Yes I do mostly have one but as you grow older it becomes slightly more challenging. I know I look pretty good and I'm not afraid to tell myself that (I don't tell other people their opinion is probably different and not really any concerns of mine) however youth is the accepted bench mark for a good body and it's repeated long and loud all day long. It becomes more challenging to maintain a healthy body image when almost every product aimed at women claims to prevent you from being what you are and sells this as a good thing.

I have accepted my stretchmarks and my scars . I think as I've gotten older I have become much more kind to myself,my dress size has ranged from a size 8 to a 26 I'm actually not comfortable or happy with either end of that scale. I typically stay around where I am now and I'm good with that. I used to worry so much about how others viewed me but now I couldn't give a frig,.

I'm pretty content. I could loose some more weight but lost 4 stone after my marriage breakup and I'm for now relatively happy.

Acceptance.

I used to hate my stretch marks and cellulite and obsessed over what procedures I could have to get rid of them, now I don’t even notice them.

It’s okay to not be 100% happy with your body, but at the same time accept that we all have flaws, imperfections, scars that tell a story and there’s someone out there who will love those bits that we don’t like.

If you are going medical then a healthy BMI, personally I think it's a load of crap & it's whatever you as a person are happy with.

Am I happy with mine - nope, but I do love the new larger boobs so can't complain.

Yea I’m happy with my body (mainly). But I work hard at it. It’s important to me to be strong and healthy.

I think a healthy one is having focus on how your body feels rather than looks.

And yes, I believe I do
