Probably have the purists spitting feathers but I think the original 5 piece FleetwoodMac of Peter Greens were really good blues artists, they did some particularly good Elmore James covers.

I like some Peter Green songs, but I prefer the Gary Moore covers of them.

I loved Peter Green but the Elmore James numbers were Jeremy Spencer doing the slide guitar

Blues... probably John Lee Hoker. No that's not a typo, I had to edit my post lol! A voice like gravel, and guitar lines that were as much about something to stomp a foot to above any kind of attempt at a flashy solo.

Jazz; 100% Herbie Hancock - a huge influence on modern music in general and my 'gateway drug' into jazz, funk and fusion. As a guitarist, my second 'number one' is John Scofield, who was a huge influence on how I approach tone and melodic harmony with my own playing. On a side note, Herbie Hancock is the only person I've ever asked for an autograph. I've never really been into collecting them, but when I got the opportunity with the maestro, you can be sure I took it!

Blues? Muddy is always high on that list along with B B King and Buddy Guy.

Others have mentioned Miles Davis and he was a genius so I will add John Coltrane to the list. A Love Supreme is brilliant.

I love Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher for more modern blues. B.B. King and Buddy Guy are my older faves.

As for jazz, I like Django Rienhardt.
