sexist?

noble cause and fully supportive of it, but only for women in pink? but not seen as blatant sexism?

cancer effects us all. and as a man i have a vested interest in breast cancer, in fact any cancer that effects women! so why is race for life for women only?

Movember sexist or what? ...i am kidding of course im sure there is something out there everyone can do to help fight cancer

I would welcome the opportunity to do a Race for Life type event.

If there is one that men can take part it would be great - especially since the poster-boy for Testicular Cancer has been shamed and villifed; undoing much of the good work and media profiling of cancer in men.

there is a few women on here that seem to partake in movember all year round!lol

However the point is about cries of sexism in modern times but race for life seems to be an exceptable form!

Me, I rather like the race for life being ladies only. I get to stand at the side and watch lots of sexy women in running shorts.

Men can and do have involvement in the race for life event. My brother has volunteered and been a steward for a couple of years while his wife takes part.

I don't really get your point about sexism.

Sexism? Definately not!! But, lets say for atqguements sake that it is. SO FECKIN WHAT??? If it raises awareness AND much needed cash then so be it!

There are a multiple amount of races you can run in for cancer awareness or various other cancer charities.

This particular event is aimed at women so why would you want to take part in that ?

Having read my post, it does seem a bit ott. It wasnt my intention. I think the race for life was started by a gal for gals.

There is loads of things you can do to raise cash or awareness. Bunji jumping, climbing, running, charity events, the list is endless.. Race for life was started to bring breast cancer into the public domain more and to encourage more women to get checked out. Just like the ads and billboards for testicular cancer.. Does it really matter as long as its makin money and bringing awareness into the limelight?

I think as a lot of women taking part in race for life are cancer survivors themselves, it would seem unfair to have to compete with men. Race for life is not really about being competitive, it is more about being inclusive, encouraging women to be part of a 'sisterhood'

Men can take part with women in the relay for life races though.

I have done several relay for life, they are more family orientated.

Also like the way they make a big thing of the survivors as well, it is very humblung to see what some people have gone through but they are still smiling.

I think the point being put across is that by having single cancer fund raising events other types of cancer are sidelined

I'm not sure though that the race for life does this, whilst though it concentartes on one specific type of cancer it keeps in the public mind the need to raise funds to fight and research cancer

As a cancer survivor I applaud anyone who raises money for such a good cause and would ask anyone who is feeling generous to support me in thsi years London Marathon raising money for cancer Research
