Your penis is not an egg plant

Seriously what is that all about? How did the emoji for an egg plant become synonymous with a penis? Surely it should've been the banana, I mean there's always suggestive references in film and TV where an attractive woman (or guy) slowly eats a banana.

*starts googling egg plants to stare at them with intense confusion*

Well since the Americans call an aubergine an eggplant and America is only a out 300 years old, I'd say aubergine was the original name

No it needs to be a banana!

You know, "the fruit of my loins"..

It doesn't have the same ring to it if a dude said "the vegetable of my loins"

None because vegetables don’t have seeds.

Both terms are attested, to describe the vegetable, from 1763, according to the online etymology dictionary.

What's the difference between an egg plant and aubergine? I thought they were the same thing?

I prefer aubergine as a term because it's more interesting than egg plant.

I find this really weird.

It's a bit like saying that "mobile phone" is the wrong term because what's sold in Germany is a "Handy"

In the UK, companies use British terms. In other countries, they use the terms of those countries.

"In Indian we call it baangun

In Australia it's an eggplant.

In the UK I've been shouted at for calling a courgette a zucchini. I was talking to my then husband about my shopping list, some weirdo overheard, and started screaming at me about destroying the English language.

I'm... sorry my ancestors got it from the Italians and your ancestors got it from the French. How very bad of me. I should be ashamed.
