How many have fleeced you?

I'm not going to make this gender specific and I'd like it to stay that way please folks.

I keep hearing stories of people that ended up parting with cash during a relationship because the person they loved or lusted after always needed something or got themselves in a mess in one way or another. And in some cases thousands.

Have you been in this position?

How much did it take for you to put a stop to it? What was the final straw and did you get any back?

How would you react now to that kind of thing?

And I'm not referring to fab specifically here

PS can you loan me a few thousand for this thing I really need?

I bought something for someone on a credit card once, and also had a phone contract for him in my name.

I think the item was like 5/700 quid, pretty sure he never paid me back!

Never again. Maybe like 20 quid, but I'm far too poor to be lending anyone money.

Only one person because I was stupid enough to let it happen

And it wasn’t because they need cash or anything

I just thought there would be a chance to fix things and didn’t want to up root the house to re root everything back in to the house so stupid me left everything in the house to them thinking that we sort things out before the lease was up we still had 3 months left but nope they took everything sold it all pocket all the money

Maybe the warring sings should have been on the wall when there wages never went in to the joint bank account and then lifted mines out off the bank also

Let that one go and still tryed to fix it

Left me with all the bills nothing to show for the last 7 years no home no family nothing

I spent thousands on helping someone out of debt. Probably 8-9k. The person knew this was a loan and just opted to not bother in any attempts to pay me back.

I cut my losses and moved on, I was never going to get it back.

I'd hoped the person would use it as a moment to reevaluate their life and do some personal growth. I recently found out said person will now eat vegetables and do their own washing instead of expecting their Mom to do it so I guess that's an improvement (genuinely no exaggeration)

One of my wife’s family is shit with money, pretends she is loaded, overspends to prove she is loaded, and is constantly tapping family members up for loans to get through the latest cash shortage. We recently rumbled that she was doing a lap of the family (probably her husband’s family too), using one loan to pay off another.

Regularly turns up at the parents, with some urgent cash need like rent or school fees, and of course the parents fall for it every time.

It’s sick, seeing her fleece a retired old couple to fund her charade of affluence

It happens as I can attest. You get drawn in by the promise of love and affection. I once shelled out for a steak meal at a Berni Inn with a prawn cocktail starter and a choice of deserts with a couple of glasses of blue Nun. For what.......to be ghosted.

I’ve heard horror stories like this before. One woman here told me that when she refused to have sex with him, not only do, they complain about the cost of the meal, he also moaned that it shaved his balls for nothing.

I feel your pain. Did you also shave your balls for nothing?

Many years ago, I made friends with a couple from another swing site.

They where always skint and yes, I did feel sorry for them............... AT FIRST.........

I used to pay for meals for them when we went out and I would also buy the tickets to fetish clubs! I really did not mind as I was working and making decent money at the time and she was a at home mum and he had a really badly paid job and i was happy to "help" them.

But after about 4 or 5 months, he got his "dream job" in sales and started bragging. Bragging so much that he was showing off to me, so the next time we went out, I told them I couldn't afford the meal and tickets for clubbing too this time as I had had a few days off due to sickness and being self employed meant I had not made so they needed to chip in and they both got annoyed at me!

All in all, I recon I had spend about £800 in 5 months on them (which I did not mind when they where skint, but bollox am i the wallet when they actually have money even though I was fucking his wife).

Suddenly, after that day, they never contacted me again and ghosted me.

I walked away, this was many, many years ago. The lies involved are as bad as the money side of it. There's support available now that wasn't around then but if he'd had access to on line gambling I dread to think of the consequences

Never really been fleeced, but have been generous to a fault with some people, both on Fab and in family.

People get a chance and then nothing.

Sad to say that it has been an eternal wedge between my brother and I as he is terrible with money.

I’m empathetic and don’t like to see people suffering but will cut them off if being taken for a fool.
