Looking back yes I probably was in a sporting context. I was a pretty handy cricketer and for sure sometimes I was arrogant when playing at my first club, which was in a league that wasn’t a massively high standard. Needless to say the arrogance got beaten out of me when I stepped up a few leagues and I wasn’t top dog any more.

Never been called it here though. I take that as a positive

"What’s the difference between arrogance and confidence?"

Arrogance is misplaced confidence. Someone who overplays their strengths/abilities but overlooks any of their flaws.

I have been called arrogant before but only by people who don't actually know me and/or don't know what arrogant actually means.

"I don't think I am. I assume that there are people who think I am. "

I know that I'm not, and no-one in real life would think it either. But on here and elsewhere, I can be chatting to someone for a while and then meet them socially, and towards the end of the meet, they'll say that they thought that I was a bit arrogant but they're surprised that I'm really nice. It's only happened a few times in a decade, but it bothers me a bit because I'm really modest, generous and very caring. I think it may be that I put too much l humour in messaging and that it is easily mistaken.

"What’s the difference between arrogance and confidence?"

To me - a confident person knows they are reliable , trustworthy, lives life by following a good set of values and knows they are a decent person and likes themselves well enough. They respect others and know their own limitations.

An arrogant person overstates their ability , acts as if they know more than others and as if they are more important than others. It can be born from low self esteem but more often than not it's born of being overly praised and not being taught empathy or humility.

Confidence is from a genuine belief in oneself, positiveness, openness and empathy for others. Arrogance from insecurity, an inflated sense of self-importance, lacks empathy.

"What’s the difference between arrogance and confidence?"

The main thing is the lack of humility and being humble.

Humility is the quality of being modest, respectful, and humble, while arrogance is the attitude of being overconfident, self-important, and conceited. Humility can help one learn from mistakes, appreciate others, and grow as a person, while arrogance can lead to isolation, conflict, and stagnatio

There's a lot of perception involved.

I know my value, my strengths, my abilities.

Other people won't see them the same way. Meaning that to them, I am arrogant, because as far as they're concerned my value is not as much as I think it is.

But my worth is not determined by the opinions of strangers.

And I refuse to play the modest and demure submissive role just because it's what is expected of a woman in my position.

I love me. I should love me. If that bothers people enough to call me arrogant, fuck em

It's always the same. Be confident but not too confident. If you're attractive don't dare say you know it because it's immodest but if you feel unattractive it's ok for other people to say you are. Give to charity but don't say you do, be a good person but don't push yourself forward.

It's daft!

There’s a fine line!!!!

And I’m sure sone overstep that line sometimes. A show of arrogance doesn’t mean to n my r they are arrogant, it’s just at that moment they have the confidence to flex and show off!! And why not?

But when someone IS arrogant, you just know they are and that’s their character. And that not becoming for anyone, no matter how much you give to charity or how attractive you are.

". People are always telling us to love ourselves yet when someone does people don't like it. Go figure"

“Love ourselves” can cover a multitude of bases.

If you are not confident then giving yourself some love is a good thing because it resets the negative balance you are in.

If you are super confident then loving yourself and telling everyone how brilliant you are becomes very tedious for everyone else.

The Town by The Cross

"There's someone on here who is very confident and they have reason to be so but people are always batching and trying to put them down. Same when Annie Wilkes was here. People are always telling us to love ourselves yet when someone does people don't like it. Go figure

Yep, absolutely this "

I couldn't agree less with the comment above.

A person can know they are physically attractive and state it without being arrogant. They can also show their lack of confidence and low self esteem via their over inflated attempts to prove themselves through argument , misunderstanding and an inability to change or make decisions.

Which is what I have witnessed in here in the past.

Stating things out loud about yourself isn't usually a sign of confidence and more a sign of attempting to convince others.

( p.s. I am not talking about you personally I just attached to your comment re the above post )

Dubai & Nottingham

I don’t think I am, and people who know me well say I’m not.

I think one or two people probably think I am I don’t really know me. I can be very strong willed

I think the people answering that they are, or maybe are, are among the least arrogant people here . Truly arrogant people surely would say no ? Arrogance is that quality we believe you are actually better than you really are. People hide their arrogance well on here, they hide it behind, sickly sweet & limp lettuce leafs
