That more floor space seems to be dedicated to woman’s clothing than men’s? Anything else you’ve noticed?" Ladies buy more clothing. Making it a larger space that's more accessible is simple business sense. | |||

However I think it’s interesting that men’s clothing sections are far smaller than the ladies section. So if there’s less choice then there’s less option to buy more | |||

Because we are more spontaneous shoppers according to marketing specialists so if I pass and something catches my eye, I'm more likely to go in and be the impulsive buyer. Because to buy your or kids underwear or other items, I have to pass ladies section first, before heading upstairs.. and again I might be tempted. Because after I pay I have to pass ladies section again on my way out (unless there is an upstairs exit) and who knows... maybe I just bump into sales rack and can't walk away! T. | |||

Is it just by the name of the account holder? Joint accounts are often listed with the male name first. A shop that sells both mens and womens clothing will not generally differentiate on the receipts whether it was male or female clothing, or whether the person purchasing presented as male or female. The patterns from marketing clothing are that the women are the ones making the actual purchases. So having a large selection of things to appeal to them on the way to the menswear to deal with their partners wardrobe makes sense. Granted I deal with a particular area of the market which is much more likely to have a high earning male and a female with the time to shop than the overall population though. | |||

"Clothes shopping is aimed at women as a whole. The trend has changed slightly due to generational atritude changes but some things are rooted as instinct, and just general manipulation. The trend is women will buy more, spend more. Girl math is a thing for the most part. Women will be particular about what they wear, men (in general) will be happy with a simple plain outfit so long as it looks presentable, very few accessories or need to coordinate an entire outfit or even care about what other men are wearing. Essentially the whole shopping business model when it comes to clothes is focused on women. " I understand this but there needs to be a better and more representative high street presence for men. I was in M&S today. One floor dedicated to woman. The men’s clothes shared a floor with ladies lingerie, the cafe, the home ware. Are we saying men are less bothered? | |||
