"The squeaky stairs when you sneak down for midnight snacks " You can mitigate that by trading on the outer edges (learned that off a film, and damn handy it is too), but squeaky beds. Come on ! We can put spacecraft at the far edges of the galaxy but we can't invent a no squeek bed!!!

"Handmade wooden bed barely squeaks and only occasionally needs tightening. I ditched metal years back because they are the worst for noise. Squeaky floorboards are a pain though. I had them all corrected before the carpets went down. I now have one on the landing almost ten years on. One! It's annoying." Oh, come on... You haven't learned where that floor board is yet, so you can avoid it.. It sounds like an oak framed bed is the way to go though. I'll take that on advisement. Just going shopping now...

" We had a squeaky metal bed frame for 15yrs. We treated ourselves to a new, much quieter upholstered frame when we moved house this year and by god! The difference!
