You hear of safety wives/husbands right, where if you don't get married by a certain age you'll marry one of your friends? (It's a thing I saw it on a programme!)

Do you have a safety sex partner? If you don't have sex by the end of the year you'll just make do and have it with each other?

At least you get sex right?

I don't know about safety or back up as such. But I have a couple of people that are just fuck buddies and all parties are aware that it's a matter of convenience and knowing the sex is good rather than wanting to spend real time together.

Yes I had a 'safety husband' it was his idea that if we weren't married by aged 30.... We'd marry each other....But we both went on to have long term relationships with 2 other people

But yeah it's very specific fwb. Sex with somebody you somewhat like when all else fails and other people let you down and fuck you over for a year, you know at least somebody will fuck you by X date. Not the same as a regular fwb, not as formal as a fuck buddy.

To be fair, I do understand why the make do and backup vibe is unappealing.

But someone I've met previously in a group scenario, with all of the sexual chemistry perfection but absolutely nothing in common with otherwise, who's happy to engage in some happy hedonism when there's a little tension to release. That doesn't sound like a bad thing to me at all.

I'd much prefer that to trying to connect with someone I'm not all that interested in to start with. But I would also much prefer to spend time with the people I adore or the people I can feel that potential for a real spark with.

But, as long as everyone is on the same page about it just being a casual fuck or booty call setup rather than expecting anything more, I'm good with that

It's less about being their last option, and more about helping a friend out, mutually.
