If people turn up 40 mins late for a scheduled meet,are you in the wrong if you refuse to let them in ?

Been called a timewaster by a couple who turned up 40 mins late due to the above ?

Lateness really grinds my gears. So rude it’s like your time is less precious than theirs

They where really badgering me for the address with great urgency!!

Gave them address and time ,thenvthey are the only ones who turned up late,the excuse was that they whete driving,cant the non driver communicate to you if they are running late ?

I had someone show up 45 mins late, but he'd travelled a distance and kept my update with his approximate location.

He was well worth worth waiting for.

People can be late for so many reasons including that they may have stopped off for a bit and we're trying to contend with nerves or wobbles about the meet. I know people get pissed at lateness but I do think being a bit more chilled and just going with the flow pays off completely for you and them.

I mean it's not like we're going to be late for our next client or losing an hourly rate at work is it??? Most of us have one meet in a day, so if you're getting antsy about time and hadn't blocked the day out for whatever could have unfolded meet wise then you're inducing stress on yourself surely as well?

I get lateness is frustrating though, I do.

Feels a bit extreme not to let them in. I'd probably have been a bit more relaxed (my time keeping is not impeccable, and like others have said, it's not like you're on the clock), but ultimately it's your choice who you do or don't let into your home.

Though if we'd arranged to meet out somewhere, and there had been no message, I would have left before 40 mins elapsed...

To me, timekeeping is important. It's a demonstration of respect for your time and autonomy.

Life happens, traffic happens, things happen. But rarely something that means I cannot be informed of lateness or sudden changes of plan.

If I'm left in the dark and waiting for someone without knowing why, I don't like to tolerate that. There's been one occasion where the reasons were absolutely valid and them not being able to contact me and let me know made absolute sense. And I'll always give people a chance to give their side if I'm even remotely invested.

But some randoms I'd never met before just showing up that late without bothering to let me know? I'd sack that shit right off. Especially when it's a couple and at least one of them could have bothered to shoot me a quick message while the other dealt with things.

I turned up 45 mins late to a meet yesterday ... I gave 30 mins notice that i wouldn't be there on time. It earned me a punishment

From their point of view it’s a case of whether you would have let them in anyway regardless of what time they’d got there, or if you were just leading them on.

I've been an hour late before.

I don't give exact arrival times, I ask what time they are ready for me from, and tell them I'll aim for a time and communicate throughout my journey.

There was a 4 hour delay on the Elizabeth line recently that was beyond anyone's control.

If a train is stuck underground I wouldn't be able to communicate as there's no signal.

40 minutes isn't that long in the grand scheme of things.

If someone has a tight schedule and only has an hour or two free I wouldn't meet them.

I'm late a lot! But I warn people. It's a thing now. An ongoing joke!

I think it all depends on the communication which happened prior to the incident... who 'wasted' whose time. The tension could have been broken at the door too, but I understand how frustrating it can be when it's your pet peeve and you are very punctual yourself. Can't get over some things.

She/they probably spent that extra 40 mins to look their absolute best for you, showered, shaved, smelling amazing. But they could have given you some warning about their lateness.

. If there was a phone call or texting to say they are running late and roughly how late they would be then fair enough you can then decide if it is convenient for you to have the meet 40 minutes later than planned.If there is no communication then it depends on you and how you feel.Going by what you have said and in today’s world of mobile phone, emails , kik , telegram they really should have been keeping you updated if they were running late.

Yeah I'd be pissed with that, especially if it's a playtime and everyone else is on time or communicates that they are late, serious late comers can ruin the sexual mood at a house party, especially when everyone is already nekkid and fucking
