Do you ever stop and think how your friendships with people where formed. Ive got friends that ive been friends with for over 25 years and some very recently. It just struck me how some people you gain a friendship with and others you dont

I live with my best friend.... We drive each other crazy, we argue we laugh but most of all we are there for each other... He says we are soulmates... he is my best friend

I have 3 best friends one of them i have known all my life our parents lived net door to one another and we shared our first flat together.

Another i went all through school with.

And the 3rd was a bit of an odd friendship she is 10 years younger and the first time i met her we really didn't like each other but we ended up speaking when something happened to a neighbours house and just ended up talking more and more and then became the best of friends and more

I'm very lucky that my best friend is my ex wife. We tell each other our secrets and are there for support whenever needed.

I have not kept in touch with anyone in the Far East where I originated.

My oldest friends are friends of the family since I came to this country in 1979.

Of my own, my oldest friends are those I worked with for over 12 years, and have kept in touch since I left 9 years ago.

I kept in touch with a couple of colleagues from my last place of work, and I would consider a few my friends where I am now.

I have a few I would call friends on FAB.

I would say all the ones I would consider as friends, the majority have similar outlook in life, and we made the efforts to keep in touch.

Others just drifted away/apart, due to changes in circumstances and life's priorities.

I am still in touch with a couple of people with whom I went to Primary School.

I am also still in touch with friends from Grammar School and uni - just a handful from when I lived in a different country.

These days I have a handful of more local and very special friends and it took years of building the friendships and trust. Also I have a handful of special people off the site.

I had a besty for about 12 years, we met at a toddler group, for a long while we were single mums together helping each other out and goin on hols together. Then she met her hubby he was ok but not really fussed myself, she went all different then like i wasnt good enough for her, and moved across the city. And got a new besty where she lives now. Its really sad i miss her loads. If im honest i was in love with her too when we first met but she dint feel the same so i got over that. My other bestys r a married couple ive known for 22 years, live on my estate and are more like family than friends

I only have one best mate, after some very dark times, famy losses on his part, drug and alcohol abuse, he is now married to wonderful woman who is ace, and he is now a top notch bloke, who actually told me about fab. I love him to bits and I'm not afraid to say it. If he rang at 4am with a problem, I'd happily jump on the bike and go help him out no questions. It's a wonderful thing knowing that you always have 'that' person, no matter what to talk to.

I am pretty crap at keeping in touch with people

Only today my pal referred to me as Doris Day cos I have a rescue dog and keep myself to myself

It's not a conscious thing, I just get on with my life, I have friends who I lived with at Uni, who was Best Man at their weddings, godparent to some of their children etc who I haven't seen or made contact with for over 18 months

I have a friend from school who I used to visit 3/4/5 times a year even when he was living abroad. Not seen him for 10 years or more now.

My cousin who I grew up with and lived with and was almost like a brother to and was my boozing partner in my teens and 20s, not seen for 2/3 years.

The only people I see with any regularity are 2 friends who I've met in the last 10 years and with them, I am as thick as thieves.

So yeah, if you're looking for a friend who doesn't mither ya from one year to the next but would be there for you instantly should you need him, gimme a shout

Some people come into your lives and leave their footsteps in your heart...

some people come into your life and you want to leave footprints all over their faces

"Some people come into your lives and leave their footsteps in your heart...

Reminds me of this (and I cannot remember where I saw it...)

Some people come into your life for a season and some people come into your life for a reason.

It might sound weird but my 16yr old godson is the closest thing I call to a best friend. I have friends my own age but he's always there for me and I think the world of him.x

Sounds like you two relate really well and that must be a good thing for both of you. Nice to see that.

I have a female friend who I met when I was 14 at school and although we don't always see each other that often 38 years on we are still best mates and in regular phone and Facebook contact. She's the one who has always been there in the background as my rock.
